Harry Potter fans, get ready for a blast from the past. The new Harry Potter TV series is reportedly returning to the exact filming locations where the original Potter films were once filmed, which is sending waves of nostalgia throughout the Potterhead fandom.

Yep, you've read that right! There will be magic once again taking place at Malham Rakes in Yorkshire, the very same filming location that was first seen in the franchise in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, and this known setting to the movie fans promises to bridge generations of the fandom back together.

Reimagining the Wizarding World: Returning to the landscapes that built a legacy

When it comes to Harry Potter as a franchise, there are very few and rare locations that get a proper hold of the magic, like Malham Rakes. Known for its limestone formations and natural “lunar” beauty, this spot once set the stage for the trio’s tense moments in Deathly Hallows: Part 1.

Now, over a decade later, there are cameras rolling again on the very same location, bringing nostalgia straight into HBO’s retelling of the story and the books.

Between October 20 and 25, roads near Street Gate and Capon Hall will reportedly be closed to make space for filming. This has also created an air of excitement for fans who have hoped for a look at the new Wizarding World.

By revisiting the same location, HBO seems to be creating an adaptation that fans of the movies can hold onto. The HBO adaptation officially began production earlier this month, and this also marks a total of 14 years ever since the release of Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

Casting New Spells: Fresh magic and classic locations for Harry Potter's HBO show

What truly makes this Harry Potter show stand out is how it reflects the films and its roots while also reintroducing the story to a newer and younger generation.

Leading the show is 11-year-old Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, along with Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The trio will figure their way out of those very same adventures we've once grown up with, and longtime Potterhead fans will instantly recognize the same.

The decision to film at previous location sites, Malham Cove and the London Zoo, where we first see Harry talk to a snake in The Philosopher’s Stone, shows a deliberate attempt to revisit the wonder that defined the films.

Earlier this year, production was spotted at the zoo’s penguin and reptile cages, where fans even noticed an ice-cream van, remembering the Dursleys’ outing scene.

Each returning location is more than just a filming location, and we take it as a symbol of continuity.

The Harry Potter TV series isn’t just a reboot; it’s a revival of something timeless. By filming at the same iconic locations, HBO is crafting a bridge between cinematic history and modern storytelling.

With beloved settings, a new cast, and a promise to stay faithful to each book, the magic feels alive again. As filming continues, one thing’s certain: Hogwarts will always welcome us home.
