Emmy-winning actor Jeremy Allen White has dropped an update for The Bear Season 5, FX's beloved psychological drama series, which wrapped its Season 4 in June 2025.
Jeremy Allen White appeared in a recent interview with Vogue for his upcoming (and highly anticipated) biographical musical film titled Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere. The actor revealed some behind-the-scenes secrets about the filming process for The Bear Season 4 and the status of the upcoming season.
The actor plays the role of the titular restaurant's troubled owner and chef Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto. White has bagged three Golden Globes, two Emmys and three Screen Actors Guild Awards for his flawless portrayal of an award-winning New York chef who returns to Chicago to save his brother's failing beef restaurant.
The Bear Season 5 was confirmed one week after the release of the Season 4 finale, which suggests that the show is still going strong on FX.

Jeremy Allen White drops a disappointing filming update for The Bear Season 5
Fans eagerly awaiting Carmy, Ritchie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) and Natalie's (Abby Elliott) next kitchen adventure in The Bear Season 5 might have to wait a bit longer.
In his recent interview with Vogue, White dropped the following filming update for The Bear Season 5:
''We haven’t shot the next season yet.''
Sharing an unusual filming process for Season 4, White added:
''It’s interesting because we shot this last finale back in 2024, but then filmed a lot of earlier Season 4 episodes in 2025, so it’s a weird thing. It feels like a very long time ago...But then, working backwards a year later was a strange experience. But I remember that last episode being so fun, because we shot it like a play.''
Jeremy Allen White's comments confirm that the cast has not started production on Season 5 of The Bear. Considering that it has been nearly four months since the Season 4 finale, it looks like the next season will take its sweet time before hitting our screens.
What can you expect in The Bear Season 5?
While there are no confirmed plot details for The Bear Season 5, it will likely pick up after Carmy's shocking decision in the Season 4 finale, which will change the character dynamics in the show.
After four seasons of displaying toxic and abusive behaviour towards his colleagues, Carmy finally realized his shortcomings as a human and a leader and decided to quit the restaurant industry. After a heart-to-heart conversation with his sister, Carmy realized that he didn't enjoy being a chef and made Sydney and Richie the frontrunners of his business.
The Bear Season 5 will return with these changed dynamics for the titular restaurant. Since Jeremy Allen White's Carmy handed over the restaurant to Sydney and Richie, he might have a reduced role in the upcoming season. However, Carmy assured Sydney and Richie that he would stick around till their debt is paid off, which suggests that the show will certainly find a way for White to stick around.
Jeremy Allen White also spoke about Carmy's monumental decision in The Bear Season 4 finale:
''Carmy shed so much in that finale and came clean in so many ways. He’s trying to do what he thinks is right or best.''
Carmy will likely return as a changed and better man in The Bear Season 5, one who owns and accepts his shortcomings.
