Black Rabbit has been appreciated by the audience ever since its premiere on Netflix, the credit for which partly goes to the power-packed performances of Jude Law and Jason Bateman. The two acclaimed actors star in the show as siblings Jake and Vince Friedken.

Jake is an organized man who owns the titular VIP lounge in New York, while Vince is known for being chaotic and returns to Jake’s life and business unexpectedly. The chemistry between the two actors is certainly a highlight of the show.

Jude Law has now talked about what it was like working with Jason Bateman on the crime thriller. In an interview with Variety, Law appreciated Bateman’s talent and how he understood his assignment, and said:

“He is incredibly well-prepared. He knows himself and what he can do so incredibly well, which is vital. When you’ve got a great map and know what you need to get from a scene, you can play within that loosely. That’s a great place to be.”

During the interview, Jude Law added that Jason Bateman is such a stellar performer that even when he plays a Grey-shaded role, you end up liking the character. Talking about how he was the perfect choice for playing Vince in Black Rabbit, Law said:

“He has a superpower, and you can’t help but like him. He can do awful things as a character, and you can forgive. That was a smart piece of casting and a cool contribution to this character in particular.”

Opening up about his on-screen chemistry with Bateman, Law said that it felt right from the very first season, and as they shot more sequences together, he could genuinely feel Jake's love for his brother Vince:

“The longer we played these parts, the more I felt Jake’s love for his brother. The first time when we shot the scene when Vince first came back, I didn’t know how I was going to greet him. When we hugged, it felt right to be like, “Oh man, he’s back and alright.” It taught me very quickly about how they felt about each other. I didn’t necessarily plan for that.”

Black Rabbit marks Law and Bateman’s first collaboration. Set against the backdrop of New York nightlife, the series revolves around brothers Jake and Vince. As Jake returns to Vince’s life and restaurant after being apart for a while, trouble follows him and threatens to ruin everything the brothers love.

Created by Zach Baylin and Kate Susman, the show also stars Cleopatra Coleman as Estelle, Amaka Okafor as Roxie, Troy Kotsur as Joe Mancuso, Sope Dirisu as Wes, Robin de Jesús as Tony, Dagmara Domińczyk as Val, Abbey Lee as Anna, Chris Coy as Babbitt, Don Harvey as Matt, Amir Malaklou as Naveen, and Odessa Young as Gen. The series premiered on Netflix on September 18, 2025.
