Netflix's The Witcher Season 4 will look vastly different than its predecessors, as Henry Cavill will no longer headline the fantasy series as Geralt of Rivia.

The actor has played the iconic role since the show debuted in December 2019, but it was announced that Cavill is passing the torch to Liam Hemsworth.

While fans were very upset and disappointed with Cavill's exit, neither the showrunner nor the actor revealed the real reason.

However, fans have speculated that Cavill was unhappy with how the Netflix show's creators deviated from Andrzej Sapkowski's source material and video games. The actor has discussed his love for the books, and creative differences might have led to his departure.

Now, eagle-eyed fans have noticed that the actor might even have hinted at his departure in an October 2022 podcast.

More on Cavill's exit from The Witcher in our story.

Did Henry Cavill subtly hint about his exit from The Witcher before the official announcement?

While The Witcher fans are sad about Cavill's exit from the hit Netflix series, the actor might have subtly foreshadowed it before the news broke out.

Days before his exit was announced, Cavill appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast on October 27, 2022. Talking about his work ethic with host Josh Horowitz, Cavill said,

“It’s just about belief. If you believe what you’re doing is the right thing then you’ll be able to keep on doing it.''

He added,

“It’s also important to know that if you realise you’re doing the wrong thing, that’s when you stop doing the wrong thing. You don’t just keep going just because, because that leads down a dark path.”

While Cavill's remarks were not in the context of The Witcher, his comments about his work ethic subtly hint that he might have left the show because of creative differences. The news about his departure was announced on October 29, 2022.

Since Cavill has expressed his love for the books and his character, fans were shocked after his sudden exit, and his remarks might secretly be the reason for his departure.

Liam Hemsworth will replace Henry Cavill in The Witcher Season 4

While Cavill breathed life into the character of Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher for three seasons, the baton has been passed to actor Liam Hemsworth. Fans are not happy with Cavill's exit, and some of them have even expressed their disappointment with Hemsworth's casting, but the show must go on.

Liam Hemsworth will take over the lead role in the show's fourth and fifth (final) seasons. Talking about his unusual casting, Hemsworth discussed with Collider:

“I don’t think many actors have ever dealt with — apart from maybe the people that have played the Doctor Who characters over the years, because predominantly the rest of the cast has stayed the same, but the lead actor has changed.''

He added:

“Everyone has been nothing but welcoming and extremely aware of what the situation is.”

Hemsworth's first look as Geralt is already out, and fans have mixed reactions to it. Only time will tell if fans will accept the new Witcher when Season 4 arrives on Netflix or if Cavill's exit will have consequences for the show.
