Here are all the actors playing a serial killer in the upcoming Dexter: Resurrection

Last week, we got a glimpse at what Dexter: Resurrection, the upcoming entry in Showtime's nearly two-decade-old Dexter series. Instead of rebooting the series, it appears that Showtime has decided to stick to the continuity of what came before and move Resurrection forward with Michael C. Hall and other actors who played prominent parts in the previous seasons of Dexter.

But Dexter: Resurrection is promising to shake up the franchise by having the titular character move to New York City and introduce four new serial killers and the two mysterious characters that contact the murderers, including Dexter, who is in NYC to reunite with his son, Harrison Morgan. But heads are turning in on the four new serial killers played by Kristen Ritter, Eric Stonestreet, David Dastmalchian, and Neil Patrick Harris.

• The Tattoo Collector/Lowell (Neil Patrick Harris)

Neil Patrick Harris, who is known for his role as Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother, is set to show his range in Resurrection by playing a dangerous serial killer. As the name The Tattoo Collector suggests, Lowell might be targeting people with tattoos.

• Rapunzel/Al (Eric Stonestreet)

Eric Stonestreet's inclusion in Dexter: Resurrection is one of the most surprising aspects of the show. For the uninitiated, Stonestreet is known for his role as Cameron Tucker in all 11 seasons of Modern Family. This is why it is surprising that this actor is playing a serial killer in Resurrection.

In Dexter: Resurrection, the actor is playing the role of the serial killer referred to as "Rapunzel", whose civilian identity is Al. With a name like "Rapunzel", it looks like his serial killer will probably collect his victims' hair as trophies.

• Lady Vengeance/Mia (Krysten Ritter)

The trailer for Resurrection confirmed that Krysten Ritter is playing Mia, who kills victims under the alias of "Lady Vengeance". We can't hear her talk that much, meaning she could be one of the most dangerous killers in this bunch. It is important to note that this is a risky venture on Ritter's part, as she is largely associated with Marvel superhero Jessica Jones.

• The Gemini Killer/Gareth (David Dastmalchian)

Krysten Ritter is not the only Marvel actor to join the cast of Dexter: Resurrection. David Dastmalchian, the actor who played Kurt in the first two Ant-Man movies and Veb in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, joins this show as Gareth or The Gemini Killer. Much like Ritter's character, we don't know much about his character either.

These four killers are expected to come face-to-face with The Bay Harbor Butcher/Dexter because they are all invited by Peter Dinklage's mysterious billionaire Leon Prater.

Who is Peter Dinklage playing?

Dinklage's casting was officially confirmed in February 2025. The actor's character was confirmed as the venture capitalist and billionaire Leon Prater. Several reports described Prater as someone who maintains a public facade of a philanthropist while hiding a darker side. The trailer seemingly confirms this by showing him as an avid fan of serial killers. However, it is unconfirmed if he himself is a serial killer or not.
