The wait for Ironheart has been long and painful. And that's why it was a pleasant surprise when well-known internet scooper Daniel Richtman/DanielRPK revealed through his X (formerly Twitter) account that the first MCU miniseries following Riri Williams will release its first trailer on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, but the time of release remains uncertain for now.
The series, announced in 2020, wrapped its filming back in November 2022, around the time Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was released, in which Riri Williams/Ironheart was going to make her debut. But it is only now, almost three years later that the six-episode miniseries Ironheart is releasing on Disney+ on June 24, 2025.
What to expect from Ironheart?
Not much is known about Ironheart, but we do know that the series will pick up right where Black Panther: Wakanda Forever left off, with Riri returning to MIT after helping Shuri, the new Black Panther, deal with Namor's threat. In this series, Riri suits up in her technologically powered Ironheart suit to confront Parker Robbins/The Hood.
"Set after the events of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, Marvel Television’s “Ironheart” pits technology against magic when Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne)—a young, genius inventor determined to make her mark on the world—returns to her hometown of Chicago. Her unique take on building iron suits is brilliant, but in pursuit of her ambitions, she finds herself wrapped up with the mysterious yet charming Parker Robbins aka “The Hood” (Anthony Ramos)."
If you remember, Ironheart will not be the first time we would be meeting the supervillain The Hood. The sixth episode of What If...? Season 3, "What If... 1872?" gave us a different version of The Hood. That episode explains that Shang-Chi's sister Xu Xialing killed the original Hood and took over the criminal activities.
It is explained that the Hood Xu Xialing wears is magical in nature, and at the end of that episode, the Hood disappears to an unknown location. Fans theorized that the magical Hood escaped into the multiverse or returned to its owner, Mephisto, the devil in the Marvel Universe in the comics.
Fans believe that Sacha Baron Cohen is MCU's Mephisto in Ironheart:

In October 2022, Deadline published a report stating that Sacha Baron Cohen joined the MCU for an unknown role. The report mentioned that he might be playing Mephisto in the series, but it is imperative to note that this is not official. However, Mephisto's name being dropped in the third episode of Agatha All Along, "Through Many Miles / Of Tricks and Trials", only had fans theorize that the Borat actor is indeed playing the Marvel Universe's devil.
Brad Winderbaum, Marvel TV's Head, in a November 2024 interview with Brandon Davis' Phase Hero Podcast, gave this comment regarding Sacha Baron Cohen playing Mephisto:
“I wish I could tell you.”
Such comments only have fans believing that Sacha Baron Cohen will be appearing in Ironheart as Mephisto. While it is known that the actor is appearing in the Disney+ miniseries, for now his role has been kept under wraps. Therefore, most likely, the actor's role will be revealed only when he appears in the series.
Many believe that Anthony Ramos' Parker Robbins manages to summon Mephisto using magic and requests a powerful magical artifact. Impressed, the devil hands over the Hood to Parker.
