With the premiere of Weak Hero Class 2 on April 25, 2025, Park Ji-hun's Yeon Si-eun finds himself embroiled in more intense and dire threats. As we saw at the end of Class 1, Si-eun’s new school, Eunjang High, will be as tough as his former school, Byuksan.

However, with every new episode, the action in Weak Hero Class 2 became increasingly pulse-pounding and intense, leaving little to no time to get to know the characters well. The season premiered with Si-eun attending therapy, revealing his sleeping troubles and talking to Ahn Su-ho (Choi Hyun-wook), who is still in a coma. Amid his personal struggles and efforts to control his anger, he meets Jun-tae (Choi Min-Yeong), and as the series progresses, we see the two, along with Park Hu-min (Ryeoun) and Go Hyun-tak (Lee Min-jae), becoming good friends.

With a series that started on a grim note, their friendships amid the gritty action sequences were what moved the story forward.

More on this in our story.

Weak Hero Class 2: The unlikely trio saved Si-eun from his own struggles

Weak Hero Class 2 is adapted from a webtoon by Kim Jin-seok and Seopass, but it deviates significantly from the original material by rushing the storylines and not allowing enough time for the characters to develop. However, it does not disappoint in terms of fights, as each episode features at least one fight sequence, even if some occur in Si-eun’s head.

Amid the fights was Si-eun, who tried his best to keep his head down and pass the time at school before leaving for abroad. However, he, as well as we, knew it would be difficult, especially after he saw Jun-tae being beaten up by Hyo-man and felt compelled to stand up. This marked the beginning of their reluctant friendship, which also included Hyun-tak and Hu-min, also known as Baku.

Since the drama was filled with fights, their friendship shone through more, as it kept the story moving. Si-eun, who seemed troubled at the beginning, popped pills to treat his insomnia and began to improve and smile again. The intense look on his face, with his eyes bulging a bit whenever he saw his friends being bullied, was back.

With Jun-tae, Hyun-tak, and Baku by his side, Si-eun was no longer alone. When Su-ho woke up from his coma and asked who they were, Si-eun was filled with emotions while introducing his friends to the one who taught him the value of friendship.

More about Weak Hero Class 2

Aside from Park Ji-hoon, the series also featured Bae Na-ra, Lee Jun-young, Yoon Jong-bin, Jo Jung-suk, and Jeon Bae-soo, among others. Regarding its narrative, Weak Hero Class 2 might be ranked lower than its predecessor, but the horrifying and brutal fight scenes in every episode made the show grittier.

While it remains uncertain if there will be a season 3, fans are still hopeful of seeing Si-eun and his new friends take on more bullies now that he is reunited with Su-ho.
