Peacemaker Season 2 is back with a second episode, which streamed on Thursday, August 28, 2025. This episode also subtly hints at the multiverse in the DCU. This comes in the first act of the second episode, A Man Is Only as Good as His Bird. As Leota Adebayo informs Christopher about A.R.G.U.S. monitoring him, he explains to her that the QUC provides access to 99 other realities.
As of now, we don't know how many of those realities we will see in the rest of the six episodes of Peacemaker Season 2. However, we know that at least one alternate universe plays a role in the second season, the one we saw Chris visit last week in the season 2 premiere.
Does the DCU multiverse consist of 99 realities as Peacemaker Season 2 suggests?
Sounds like the QUC, i.e., the Quantum Unfolding Chamber technology that Chris possesses, provides access to 99 other realities. While there might be several other realities that even Chris might be unaware of, for now, we should take his word for it. The presence of 99 other universes also suggests that DC, with Peacemaker Season 2, is finally moving away from the number 52.
For those who don't know, in the 2010s, DC was pushing forward with the New 52 initiative. New 52 was the new continuity that was established at the conclusion of the 2011 comic, Flashpoint. At that point, different DC media tried to push the number 52 to symbolize that there were 52 other realities in the DC multiverse. We can safely assume that DC is finally moving away from divisive elements from DC comics.
What do we know about the DC multiverse?
Currently, details about the DC multiverse are scarce. It seems prudent that DC Studios, for now, is downplaying it, considering how the MCU is criticized for its multiversal plot. It appears that the only way to access an alternate reality is the Quantum Unfolding Chamber. James Gunn teased the role of the QUC in an Entertainment Weekly interview that was published in May 2025:
"You've seen what we call the QUC, the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, in the first season of Peacemaker, and we see more about that technology in Superman. The QUC is the center of the story in Peacemaker season 2... We see a lot of different characters from Superman in the [season], [including] Isabela and Nathan and Sean, and then we see a bunch of other characters later on in the season from other parts of the DCU and from Superman. There might even be one really, really, really big cameo near the end of the show."
Now, we know that the last three episodes of season 2, i.e., 6, 7, and 8, are kept a secret. Even those who were provided with screeners were given the first five episodes. Thus, if they want to know what happens, the only way to do so is by catching the episodes as they stream on HBO Max.
