How is Sasha Bordeaux planning to deal with Eagly in Peacemaker Season 2? Details explored

Peacemaker fans are worried that Eagly, our anti-hero's most loyal sidekick and pet eagle, might face some grave danger in Peacemaker Season 2.

When A.R.G.U.S. agents came to investigate Chris' house for more clues about the dimensional discrepancy in Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 3, they did not anticipate Eagly's presence there, guarding the place. As expected, the anti-hero's sidekick bravely fought against the men and even managed to injure five of them. However, this led Sasha Bordeaux and Economos to plan against Eagly and get rid of the bird for good.

Sasha Bordeaux then introduced Michael Rooker's villainous character, Red St. Wild, who is described as “the World’s foremost eagle hunter.” With Rooker's official appearance in Episode 3, it looks like Sasha will hire Red to hunt down and kill Eagly.

Who is Red St. Wild and why is he a threat to Eagly in Peacemaker Season 2?

A staple in all James Gunn movies, Michael Rooker made his Peacemaker debut as the villainous character, who seemingly hunts birds and eagles. The dangerous eagle hunter immediately established himself as the most unique antagonist in the DCU, who does not seek power or fame. Instead, Red has a special fixation on killing birds and believes it to be his spiritual calling, which is bad news for our favorite bald eagle.

Describing Rooker's character to Entertainment Weekly, James Gunn said:

"His name is Red St. Wild, and he's the world's foremost eagle hunter who is on a mission to kill Eagly.''

What makes Rooker's character even more sinister and dangerous in Peacemaker Season 2 is that Red is an original character and does not appear in the DCU comics. Since we do not know much about the Eagle-hunter's past, abilities, and powers, it is difficult to fathom what's coming for Eagly in the future episodes. However, the first look at Red and Sasha Bordeaux's determination to kill Eagly hints that the new antagonist will surely hunt our favorite sidekick in Episode 4.

Can Red St. Wild kill Eagly in Peacemaker Season 2?

Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 4 preview teases a dangerous fate for Eagly, who is reunited with his human. However, one of the montages in the teaser shows Red St. Wild announcing, 'I got you' to Eagly, hinting at a dire future for the bird. Gunn has also teased that Rooker's Red is essentially teased as a nemesis for Eagly in Season 2:

"We thought Eagly was probably the most popular character from season 1, and so in season 2, he has his own story with his nemesis, played by none other than the despicable Michael Rooker."

While Red St. Wild shares a personal vendetta against all birds and eagles, Eagly is certainly a special bird in the Peacemaker universe, who has been a loyal confidante to Chris since the show's inception. The eagle is not only a skilled hunter and a tough companion, but also displays emotional intelligence and compassion towards its human. Eagly serves as an anchor for our anti-hero, whose death will be one of the defining moments in the universe.
