The Summer I Turned Pretty has always divided fans between Team Conrad and Team Jeremiah, but Season 3 makes something else crystal clear: Belly is the one causing most of the chaos.

While the Fisher brothers trip and fall through their immaturity, Belly's choices pull everyone deeper into the mess. This season highlights that her indecisiveness, forgiveness, and her double standards make her a far more complicated character than either of the two Fisher boys.

Belly’s indecision makes her the true drama magnet in The Summer I Turned Pretty

Every time The Summer I Turned Pretty drops a new season, the highlight naturally shifts toward the love triangle. But by Season 3, the brothers aren't the ones setting all the fires because it's also Belly.

She truly cannot stick to one boy, and the result is a string of heartbreaks that feel entirely self-inflicted. Fans aren't frustrated because she's torn; they're frustrated because she keeps both options open until the very last minute.

The biggest example? Belly nearly walks into a wedding without actually knowing if she wants to marry Jeremiah. On paper, it sounds romantic and messy, but in practice, it makes her look careless. Conrad and Jeremiah, who once shared a tight bond, are now cold to each other because Belly couldn't choose until the aisle was staring her in the face.

Her concept of 'a part of me will always love Conrad, but I would want to marry Jeremiah because I think I'm in love with him' sums it up perfectly, because she wants the feeling of security from Jeremiah without ever letting go of Conrad.

Season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty proves that she's no longer just a girl caught in a crossfire, but she's the engine driving the drama harder than either Fisher boy ever could.

Double standards and unhealthy choices add to her flaws

If Season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty showed Belly simply confused, maybe fans could excuse her. But what really tips the scales against her are her glaring double standards. When Conrad was struggling with depression in the earlier seasons, Belly pulled away.

Yet when Jeremiah cheats on her in Season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty, she forgives him almost instantly. Even more shocking, she defends Jeremiah's guilt in front of Conrad, telling him Jeremiah feels horrible about what happened. That didn't just annoy fans, but it painted Belly as unfair and inconsistent.

Her relationship with Jeremiah also leans into unhealthy territory. She grows so absorbed in being with him that it looks more like codependency than romance. She even gives up her Paris study abroad opportunity because Jeremiah doesn't want her to go.

Instead of standing on her own, she lets her partner's wishes dictate her decisions. For a character who was supposed to be figuring herself out in her twenties, that's a disappointing turn.

At the same time, she continues to confess-whether in words or actions—that her heart still beats for Conrad. This tug-of-war between the brothers isn't romantic anymore; it's draining. Fans can no longer pin the fallout on the Fisher brothers alone, because Belly is the one making choices that hurt herself and everyone around her.

Season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty strips away the idea that Belly is just an innocent caught in the middle. Her actions, being indecisive, unfair, and self-sabotaging, are altogether more damaging than the Fisher brothers' flaws.

While Conrad and Jeremiah may act immaturely, it's Belly who drives the wedge between them. This season makes one thing certain: the biggest problem in Cousins Beach isn't the Fisher boys, it's Belly herself.
