Long Way Home is the fourth motorcycle travel documentary series featuring actors Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman, now on Apple TV+. In this season, they ride a 1974 Moto Guzzi Eldorado (McGregor) and a restored BMW R75/5 (Boorman) on a roughly 10,000-mile loop through 17 European countries, from Scotland back to England.

The journey includes sights like Norwegian fjords, Baltic towns, and the Arctic Circle, with stops for local food, friendly meet-ups, and occasional bike fixes.

Streaming Long Way Home

All ten episodes premiered on Friday, May 9, 2025, and are now fully available on Apple TV+. To watch the series, you need an Apple TV+ subscription, which starts with a free seven-day trial and then costs USD 9.99 per month in the U.S. If you buy a new Apple device (iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV), you can get Apple TV+ free for three months when you redeem the offer within 90 days.

Exclusivity

Long Way Home is an Apple TV+ original and does not appear on Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime Video’s general library. There are no announced plans for it to move to other platforms or traditional TV channels. This means that, for now, Apple TV+ remains the only place to see every episode of the series.

Do You Need to Watch Earlier Series?

You can jump straight into Long Way Home without seeing Long Way Round (2004), Long Way Down (2007), or Long Way Up (2020). Each episode of the new series explains who McGregor and Boorman are and what they do; so new viewers won’t feel lost. Fans of the earlier trips will recognize inside jokes and callbacks, but nothing essential is left out for those just starting with this season.

Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman explain the series

“My name is Ewan McGregor, and for the last 20 years, my best friend Charley Boorman and I have traveled to some of the farthest corners of the world. Yet we’ve never properly explored the countries on our own doorstep. So this time, Europe is our playground.”
“Long Way Round was the first time Ewan and I had done anything like that. We went through Mongolia and Siberia and places like that, so it was very tough,” notes Boorman, reflecting on their early adventures.

Long Way Home blends travel, friendship, and simple mechanical work to show Europe freshly, all on ten vintage bikes and ten episodes. It’s easy to access on Apple TV+ with a free trial or bundled deal; and you can watch on almost any modern device without extra costs.

Whether you’re a longtime fan or curious newcomer, the series stands alone as a gentle, real-world journey across familiar and remote landscapes alike.
