Hulu's Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot has added The Survivor star Kingston Vernes as the new slayer's love interest, who will appear as a recurring character if the Pilot is picked for a series.
According to Deadline, Kingston Vernes will play the role of Carson:
''A Junior Olympian and popular student at New Sunnydale Academy who is the object of Nova’s crush and starts noticing her after a life-changing event.''
Ryan Kiera Armstrong will play Nova, the new slayer in Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, who is an introverted high school girl.
The reboot is a sequel to The WB's 2001 supernatural horror drama series, where Sarah Michelle Gellar played the titular role of Buffy Summers. Geller will reprise her iconic and signature role in the reboot and is also an executive producer for the show.
As established in the show, Buffy wants to lead a normal life of a high school student, but as the show progresses, she is thrust into embracing her destiny as a 'Vampire-Slayer'.

The Survivor star Kingston Vernes joins Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot
Kingston Vernes is most famous for his role as Alan Haft in HBO Films’ The Survivor, directed by Barry Levinson. He has also appeared as young Mank in David Fincher’s Netflix film Mank, Paul Schoulberg’s So Cold the River, and Undone.
In addition to Vernes, Armstrong, and Geller, the confirmed cast for Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot includes Sarah Bock (Severance), Ava Jean (Law & Order: SVU), Jack Cutmore-Scott (Frasier), Daniel di Tomasso (Major Crimes), and Faly Rakotohavana (UnPrisoned).
Oscar-winning Chloé Zhao will direct the Pilot of this untitled project, which is written by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman. The reboot series is produced by 20th Television and Searchlight TV.
While no additional information about the characters and plot is confirmed as of now, Vernes' casting suggests that Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot will feature a romantic angle (like the parent show). The New Slayer, Nova, will also be juxtaposed between her normal life and her life as a Vampire Slayer.
The reboot was announced in February 2025 and will be a sequel to the flagship show, which saw Buffy Summers slay demons, vampires, and monsters. In addition to Geller, the parent show included an ensemble cast of Nicholas Brendon, Alyson Hannigan, Charisma Carpenter, Anthony Stewart Head, Seth Green, Marc Blucas, and James Marsters.
