America's Got Talent premiered its latest Season 20 on May 27, 2025. With the brand-new season, the show introduced a few notable changes. One of them is that the judges and the host can have two Golden Buzzers each. This means that there will be a total of ten Golden Buzzers featured in AGT Season 20.

Viewers were surprised after they witnessed two Golden Buzzers on the premiere night. Simon Cowell used his first Golden Buzzer for the Brazilian performance group, Lightwire, and the second was from Howie Mandel for Jourdan Blue.

Witnessing a Golden Buzzer on America's Got Talent is an extraordinary event that is used for incredible performances. However, seeing two of them in one night, and that too on the first episode, was something viewers might not have expected.

America's Got Talent Season 20 Premiere: Viewers witnessed two Golden Buzzers in one night

The latest season of America's Got Talent introduced a few changes, including an increased number of Golden Buzzers and a returning judge. After a six-year hiatus, Mel B returned as the judge alongside Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, and Sofía Vergara.

As viewers already know, each of the judges on AGT has the power to use the Golden Buzzer. Performances that receive the Golden Buzzer directly advance to the Live Shows phase of the competition. With the 20th season premiere, each of the judges and the show host, Terry Crews, will now have two Golden Buzzers, something new.

The decision to increase the number of Golden Buzzers might be to spotlight deserving performers and increase their numbers. Witnessing such a change in the show's format has already made waves.

The first Golden Buzzer for America's Got Talent Season 20 was from Simon Cowell. It was for Lightwire, a Brazilian group that delivered an incredible performance using light-based illusions. They performed a dance routine combined with creative technology and appealing graphics.

The performance surely caught the audience's and the judges' attention and eventually received a Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell. He stated that the performance was "one of the most beautiful" and stunning acts on the Got Talent franchise.

The next Golden Buzzer was for Jourdan Blue's performance, which Howie Mandel pressed. Jourdan, 23, a musician from New Orleans, performed The Script's Breakeven. Later, when he shared his background and revealed how he overcame his tragedy and homelessness, both the audience and judges were emotional.

As Jourdan finished his performance, he received a standing ovation and a Golden Buzzer from Howie Mandel. With Golden Buzzers, Jourdan Blue and Lightwire secured their place in the Live Shows of America's Got Talent Season 20.

Seeing two Golden Buzzers in one night is something that doesn't happen that often. While there are many outstanding performances, the judges are tasked with searching for the most extraordinary ones, and from those, the rare ones get the Golden Buzzer. It would be exciting to see how Golden Buzzer recipients perform further in the competition.
