I can't believe Tammy from 1000-Lb Sisters introduced Andrea to her family without addressing past relationship issues

TLC recently featured 1000-Lb Sisters' Tammy introducing her newest relationship, Andrea, to her mother in the seventh season's episode 6. The two also had a detailed conversation while Tammy was present.

For a long time, viewers have witnessed how Tammy has engaged with people. As the show's latest episode featured, Tammy didn't explicitly mention that Andrea was her girlfriend while introducing her to her mom. Earlier, Tammy had been quite concerned about introducing Andrea to her family members

She thought her siblings and mom wouldn't approve of her relationship with a woman. This might have been influenced by Tammy's past relations, which led her to reach such a conclusion all by herself. On the contrary, when she revealed her relationship with a woman earlier to her siblings, they were supportive of her.

1000-Lb Sisters: Why has Tammy been concerned about introducing Tammy to her family members?

Fans witnessed how Tammy's relationship with Jerry Sykes. They met online via a community, after which their relationship started. However, it ended due to various reasons, one being Jerry's existing marriage. Seeing how such a controversial relationship Tammy has been in, she should be more careful about who she dates.

Tammy's other relationship was Caleb Willingham, whom she married in 2022. The duo met at a rehabilitation center. Caleb passed away in June 2023, which was quite hard on Tammy. Undoubtedly, 1000-Lb Sisters' star Tammy has shown incredible growth and is working on herself since then.

However, in her relationship with Andrea, she has been quite reserved. One reason behind that might be her reservations about her family's thoughts about her sexuality. However, she also saw how her siblings, Amanda, Misty, and Amy, were quite open when she mentioned dating a woman.

Fans must have noticed how, when 1000-Lb Sisters' Tammy introduced Andrea to her mom, she used the phrase "hanging out" together. She didn't mention the word relationship or girlfriend. Later, when she faced the question in her private confessional about whether she was going to come out and state her relationship with Andrea, her response was:

"I'm not sure."

It seems that 1000-Lb Sisters' Tammy herself is not clear as to what she wants. She might be going through an internal conflict as to what she should do, what she wants, and how she should proceed.

Because her mom, Darlene, didn't know about Tammy's nature of relation with Andrea, her response was neutral. On the other hand, Tammy's sisters supported her dating a woman.

"If she makes you happy… that's all we want for each other is just to be happy," Tammy's sister Amanda said.

Her sisters also mentioned they were surprised to see Tammy marry a man because they had always felt she would end up with a woman, which Tammy didn't expect.
