Nick Santora's action crime adaptation, Reacher, concluded its third season this year in March. Ever since the show's inception in 2022, it has been gaining good traction in terms of creative success. With a solid 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the Lee Child adaptation is still among one of the most viewed shows on Prime Video, all thanks to an accurate narration, an ensemble cast, and a perfect blend of action, drama, and romance.
Back in February 2022, just a few days after the show premiered, Reacher stars Alan Ritchson, Malcolm Goodwin, and Willa Fitzgerald had sat down for an amusing round of 'co-star game' with Entertainment Weekly. It was then that Fitzgerald replied when asked which co-star she would go to for book recommendations:
"Alan is a secret reader I think and I feel like he has a lot of esoteric knowledge that he just whips out at random times. And so, I feel like he actually knows a shocking amount about history which I know nothing about like my history...the gaps in my history knowledge are gigantic. So, I would choose Alan."
When Reacher cast played a fun co-star game
Reacher star Alan Ritchson had sat down with his Season 1 co-stars Willa Fitzgerald (portrayed officer Roscoe and Reacher's love interest) and Malcolm Goodwin (played the role of Margrave Police Chief Oscar Finlay) for a heartwarming co-star game, where each of them were asked certain things they consider best about their colleagues or would do with them.
The interview started with the first question from lead star Alan Ritchson, where he asked who they would "go to for book recommendations." To this, both Fitzgerald as well as Goodwin had the common answer - Reacher, aka Ritchson. Our titular hero was further praised for his vast knowledge of history and other general things.
To this, Alan Ritchson replied with his usual humorous aura, saying:
"Thanks guys. I've had to work really hard to um...to con everybody into thinking I'm not a complete m*ron."
Shortly after this, Ritchson took a moment to talk about bonding with his co-star Malcolm Goodwin and how their:
"Time in the car is probably the transformational moment for our relationship where we fell in love and became best friends."
Following this, Reacher stars continued the game with the next question that was - who would they consider as 'the best road trip buddy.' Fitzgerald was the first to reply. She picked Neagley star Maria Sten and further mentioned that they had gone on 'a real life road trip' while Reacher was being filmed.
As Ritchson cut her in between and jokingly asked why he and Malcolm weren't invited, she replied:
"I'm sure you were. You probably said no." (all laugh in unison)
Fitzgerald further mentioned that she went to some 'beautiful beach' along with Maria, and praised her for having brought 'amazing snacks' and a person whom she loves talking to. In her words, Maria Sten is the 'ideal road trip candidate' to her.
However, Malcolm's choice of the best road trip buddy was Kristin Laura Kreuk (known from Smallville), who played a very small role (Charlie Hubble) in Reacher Season 1. In his words:
"I'm a Smallville fan and so I'd love to ask her all things smothered."
The next question was who the stars would pick as a karaoke duet partner, and within a few seconds, both Fitzgerald and Goodwin threw a common answer in unison - Alan Ritchson! They also recalled his iconic 'American Idol' moment and validated their pick, saying there could not be a better choice for a karaoke duet partner.
The co-star game with Reacher highlights the on-set chemistry among the stars and also leaves glimpses of how they are close to each other in their real lives. From picking their favorite songs to choosing who'd be the best mayor of a town, the stars' conversation is symbolic of the fact that Reacher is so much more than a show - it is one big family.
