Countdown Season 1, after a long struggle to find the breakthrough, has finally delivered the deserving finale, and I am still trying to wrap my head around it. The mysterious killer, aka Todd, has once again escaped from right under the nose of the task force, and this time, he has abducted one of their own - DEA Agent Amber Oliveras.
But the first question that left me wondering is how he pulled such a risky move of kidnapping her in broad daylight without anyone noticing. And did he actually shoot Oliveras or just scare her away? I hope Countdown Season 2 kicks off with good news, as killing off a fan-favorite character like hers (someone who gives Frances Neagley vibes from Reacher) would be a waste of creative potential.
On the other hand, Mark Meachum's health issue has also been a concern since the initial episodes, and I am in doubt, thinking: Did the medical trial actually heal his apparently incurable brain tumor? Well, Countdown Season 1 has not addressed this matter so far, and as it appears, Mark is totally fit and back on his feet with none of the previous symptoms bothering him anymore.
The questions keep coming up. So here's a list of all the plot points that, I feel, must be attended to in Countdown Season 2.

I am eagerly waiting for Countdown Season 2 already, and it must answer these 5 questions
(1) Is the killer's motive purely personal or does he inherently hate the government?
I am a fan of the show Countdown, despite the dismal ratings and mixed chatter, and I still think that the Jensen Ackles show needs to provide more creative closure with certain plot points. For instance, the mid-season introduction of a new antagonist was a rather sneaky movie (in my honest opinion), but the buildup was rather hasty.
We have seen flashbacks of Todd's backstory, and it also connected well to the present plot, where we see him framing his friend Seth Lewis (an FBI Agent) in the whole facade. But it is still not clear what exactly his motives are. Does he only want to take revenge against someone who broke his relationship, or does he just want to uproot the government?
And if the second one is the case, what is the reason? Did something bad happen with him at the FBI (as we now know that he is also a federal agent) that made him take a sabbatical from work? According to me, no answers have been provided, and unlike the Volchek chapter, this creative treatment is rather loose.
(2) How did the killer abduct Oliveras so easily, and that too in broad daylight?

As seen in the Countdown Season 1 finale, Oliveras gets trapped using a gas bomb inside her own car that leaves her unconscious. The next thing we know is that her phone has been dumped in a nearby cafe, and the DEA Agent is left confined in a closet somewhere inside an unidentified building.
I think it was a pretty ambiguous move where the kidnapping of a member of a federal task force is made to look like a cakewalk. How did the killer install the bomb inside Oliveras' car, given the fact that it was parked right in front of her house in the middle of the main street?
And let's suppose he did, how was the killer able to pull Oliveras out of her vehicle without anyone noticing? And where exactly is he holding her hostage? There has been no answer to any of these obvious questions.
(3) Is Mark out of danger related to his brain tumor?
Earlier in Countdown, we had seen Mark seeking help from Oliveras' close friend and a skilled neurosurgeon, Julio, to treat his brain tumor. While initially we knew that it was a terminal condition, Julio brought us some good news with the new medical trial that he and his team were conducting.
Mark gets enrolled in the program and to much surprise, months later he comes back totally fit. And I am totally surprised by the fact that nowhere till now did we haven't seen the creators address this question about his health. I am sure it is obvious that he is getting better but is he totally out of danger? We do not know that yet.
(4) Why does the killer use symbols to communicate, and what do they actually mean?
Since Countdown Episode 11, we have been encountering weird symbols and figures used by the killer to communicate with the task force; his unique sigil is a triangle-like shape with a dot. I am satisfied that it has been linked to a case (involving cult symbols) that the killer was apparently working on, but it probably was not him; it might have been his friend and colleague, Seth Lewis himself.
So, what exactly do these symbols mean? Are they coded messages in the form of a manifesto? While at one instance we saw the task force decoding one such message but the killer has also been leaving direct written threats. I am confused about why the symbols are being used.
Do they actually sum up to a monologue that Todd is saving for the final moments when he takes down the government of the United States? Countdown Season 2 definitely needs to address this question.
(5) How is Todd so easily able to get access to data related to the FBI and a federal task force?
We are all adults, and this might be a made-up story, but it revolves around real-world scenarios. Is it really that easy to tamper with data involving a federal task force?
How did Todd frame Seth Lewis so smoothly and steal his identity despite the latter himself being in the bureau? How did he gain access to what the task force is doing and blow the cover of two members?
Is he working alone or getting help from inside the department (which, to be honest, would be a fantastic turn in the plot)? I am eagerly waiting for Countdown Season 2 to answer all these questions, and until it does, I am definitely not going to like the show as much as I have so far.
