Prime Video’s The Rings of Power Season 3 has begun filming, and the fans of LOTR might not have to wait for long to see the story of the creation of the One Ring, and the fan-favorite characters might react to the new development, which is going to affect Middle-earth for a long time. The fantasy series expanded the LOTR lore and brought back an important narrative with some crucial characters.
As it depicts a time way before the War of the One Ring, it introduces the younger versions of the characters of Elrond, Galadriel, and even Gandalf. While the show has taken many creative liberties to craft the story and the characters as well, some things have gone awry and need to appear in line with the main narrative that was depicted in Tolkien’s books and Jackson’s LOTR trilogy. One of the issues that needs to be changed in The Rings of Power Season 3 is Galadriel’s naivety.
In both seasons of the fantasy series, Galadriel has been deceived by several people, making her appear rather unwise and reckless at times, not like the wise character we have seen in LOTR films.
More on this in our story.
Galadriel needs to be vigilant in The Rings of Power Season 3
The Rings of Power introduced a thousand years younger version of Galadriel from the films. Galadriel’s brother, Finrod, had died searching for Sauron, and she vows to finish the search and goes on to look for Sauron, who appears in front of her as Halbrand. She finds out about his true identity a little late. While in season 1, she is young and still learning from her own mistakes, and her proximity with Sauron might also help her later, she again falls into someone else’s deception in season 2.
To defeat Sauron, Adar asks Galadriel to join him after being captured by his Uruk army. Galadriel makes another mistake here when she reveals crucial information to Adar, who still captures her. After Adar tells her that they can defeat Sauron with the help of Morgoth’s crown, which he used once to defeat the dark lord, along with the elven rings this time, while also asking for Galadriel’s ring. Galadriel tells Adar that Halbrand is Sauron himself and also conveys to him that Elrond is coming with his army to defend Eregion. This was crucial information and she realized later on that it was a mistake to have divulged it to Adar.
Since Galadriel is still learning from her mistakes and also getting used to Nenya’s power to become the wiser and stronger character that we have seen in LOTR and The Hobbit films, it was acceptable for the first time.
However, if she has to go through another deception in The Rings of Power Season 3 even though it will take place a few years after the events of season 2, her character would be deprived of any redemption going forward in the series and would steer away further from the wiser character she has been portrayed as in the films in the later years of her life.
While we wait for The Rings of Power Season 3, you can catch both seasons 1 and 2 only on Prime Video.
