Sullivan's Crossing ended Season 3 with a bang, featuring everything from heartbreak and a marriage bomb to a life-threatening medical scare, all packed into its final episode.
But as much as I love watching the show and adore the small town charm it has, I can't help but feel restless about what's coming next season. If Season 4 misses out on these three important storylines/questions that I will be addressing below, it's going to be hard for me to stay invested.
Author's Note: These are my personal thoughts as a long-time Sullivan's Crossing watcher. I'm rooting for Season 4 to get it right and not leave these loose ends hanging.
3 important questions that Sullivan's Crossing needs to address in Season 4
Q1. Who's steering the ship while Sully's away?
Sully's decision to fly off to Ireland with Helen was unexpected. He's always been the heart of Sullivan's Crossing, the one person holding everything and everyone together like super glue. So now that he's left, I can't help but wonder who's managing the place while he's gone.

Edna is currently recovering from major surgery, and Frank is helping, but he can't do it all, can he? Sully didn't even know Maggie had chosen to stay behind when he left, which makes his departure feel even more sudden. Are we getting scenes from Ireland, then? Will there be a time jump? All of that remains uncertain until Season 4 of Sullivan's Crossing provides a definitive answer.
But without Sully, life at the Crossing changes. I'm not sure I'll be okay with Season 4 just brushing past that change like it's no big deal. The Crossing needs someone to look after it, and the show needs to show us who steps up.
Q2. What really kept Edna from agreeing to the surgery at first?
At first, it seemed like Edna was just afraid of the risks. But the more I think about it on a deeper level, the more it feels like there's something more than what was being shown to us. Edna's never been one to shy away from a challenge.
And that is why her hesitation didn't make much sense to me, i.e., until I remembered her earlier struggles she had with something as natural as aging. When she said to Frank;
"Then I wouldn't be me anymore..."
It hit me. This wasn't just about medical odds; it was about losing the parts of herself that made life worth living. Maggie was the one who delivered the news about the brain tumor.
When Edna finally agreed to the surgery, her only condition was that Maggie be the one to operate. Later, Maggie turned to Walter for reassurance, and he told her;
"Remember to trust your instincts. You'll be great."
Still, Edna's fear revealed more about her quiet grief over aging than about surgical risks. That emotional burden deserves more attention next season.
Q3. Why did Maggie hide her secret from Liam?
Let's be honest. Nothing in Sullivan's Crossing Season 3 surprised me more than Liam crashing Rob's restaurant launch and casually revealing he's Maggie's husband.
The look on Cal's face and the silence from Maggie made it messy. But it was also confusing. Did Maggie honestly forget she was married to Liam? Was it one of those wild Vegas nights? Maybe she thought the marriage was annulled? Whatever the reason, the silence about Liam's existence doesn't sit right with me.
Sully didn't mention it when Maggie was engaged to Andrew, which means even he didn't know. Maggie's response to Liam seemed sincere, which only raises more questions. And then there's Cal, caught between his love for Maggie and the feeling that she's still figuring out who she wants to be.
He says to her;
"I don't want to be the one holding you back from what you love, Maggie..."
And now if Season 4 of Sullivan's Crossing brushes over this plot bomb, I'll be beyond frustrated.
Sullivan's Crossing is full of emotion and history, but I need Season 4 to slow down eventually and answer what it started in Season 3. These aren't just dramatic twists; they're major turning points that truly deserve attention. If they're brushed aside casually, the show loses the heart that initially made me care.
