Idol I is the latest K-drama that brings together a story about a K-pop idol and his dedicated fan. And if you think she's just a regular fan girl, then you're wrong.
What makes this K-drama unique is the plot: It follows Maeng Se-na, who is an acclaimed criminal lawyer, known for winning some of the toughest cases. On the surface, people know her as a strict and rational lawyer.
Maeng didn't even celebrate her recent victory at the office, claiming her shift is over. However, the truth is that she's a dedicated fan of a popular idol named Do Ra-ik. This means that Maeing operates as a lawyer by day and an honest fan by night.
Right after getting home, she opens her computer and makes sure to get every update about the singer. However, the lawyer gets shocked when Ra-ik is arrested and accused of killing another singer. She rushes to save him and tries to take up the idol's case.

As explained above, Idol I is a K-drama that focuses on two very different worlds: the legal system and the idol industry, through a murder case. Maeng, the skilled lawyer, has never lost a case, and when she learns that her favorite idol is in danger, she makes sure to help him.
The K-drama is packed with some of the best stars from the entertainment industry, so here's a look at the main cast and characters:
1) Choi Soo-young as Maeng Se-Na

She is a successful defense attorney with an unbroken winning record. She takes cases that most lawyers refuse, often defending clients with questionable reputations.
Behind her professional façade, however, she lives a double life. Maeng has been a deeply committed fan of the idol group Gold Boys, especially Ra-ik. And when she learns that he's in danger, the lawyer takes no time in rushing to the police station and tries to prove his innocence.

2) Kim Jae-young as Do Ra-ik

Do Ra-Ik is introduced as the most famous member of the Gold Boys, holding the role of both main singer and visual centerpiece of the group. He enjoys immense popularity and public admiration until his world collapses after he is named the key suspect in a murder investigation.
The accusation leaves Ra-ik feeling isolated and in despair. He didn't kill his bandmate, and to makething worse, Ra-ik doesn't remember anything about the incident. He just knows that he found the other singer dead, lying on the floor at his house.

The drama includes a strong lineup of supporting characters who enrich the story. He's a look at who is playing whom:
Jung Jae Kwang as Kwak Byeong Gyeon: He's the prosecutor who almost clashed with Maeng at the court. In episode 1, he waits outside the female washroom for Maeng, most likely to argue, but she leaves in her casual clothes, due to which Kwak couldn't recognizeher.
Kim Hyun Jin as Park Chung-jae: He's the most loyal to Maeng, and even brings snacks and drinks to celebrate her latest victory.
