Idol I episode 1 premiered on December 22. The first episode gave an introduction and a brief background of the main leads, Maeng Se Na, a female character played by Choi Soo Young, and Do Ra Ik, a male character played by Kim Jae Yeong, and their lives and careers.Maeng is a reputed lawyer who isn't afraid to take high-profile criminal cases. At one point in the episode, she also tells her friend that she takes these types of cases to earn more money and support her celebrity crush, Ra Ik. Ra Ik, on the other hand, is a vocalist of the Gold Boys group who just started his own solo career.They also had a brief encounter when Ra Ik was hiding himself from his fans. And although they don't talk, this takes Maeng by surprise. Towards the end of the episode, Ra Ik tells his bandmate his decision to rejoin the band. After her win, her boss also throws a party for her, though she doesn't attend it. Turns out, she left early to support her celebrity crush on his new solo song. The episode also introduces viewers to a new character, Chung Jae, who is Maeng's friend.On the other hand, Ra Ik has a brief fight with his manager for poor management of his upcoming performance and his competition with another boy band. During the fan event, he also sees a lady standing and looking at him, which makes him a bit uncomfortable.Just then, he meets another fan, who criticizes the vocalist for not remembering her name and asks for his phone number. After seeing no reaction from him, she throws a paper at him angrily, leaving him stunned. He is later seen trying to take the pills to calm himself after a panic attack. The two agree to meet outside the concert, with Maeng agreeing to pay the remaining amount to him at that time.After meeting the scalper, Maeng rerecords giving money to him, threatening him with the consequences he might face, after which he runs away.In the same event, Ra Ik asks his manager to come outside to pick him up. However, the fans see the two of them together, after which his manager advises him to hide.Maeng is on the run to find the scalper, and she soon sees a man with the same hoodie the scalper was wearing. Turns out, he was Ra Ik. Ra Ik keeps his hand on her mouth and asks her to keep quiet. Maeng is overjoyed with their interaction. This leads to a fight between the two. Ra Ik's manager gets hurt.The video of him going to the hospital soon goes viral, and Ra Ik's fans call him out for being arrogant with his teammate. Maeng, being a loyal fan, shows full trust in him even though others criticize him.After the incident, Ra Ik's teammate, Woo Seong, visits him. Ra Ik also shares his thoughts on continuing the Gold Boys band, saying fans love him because of the band.In the morning, when Ra Ik wakes up, he finds Woo Seong dead in the hall with a wound on his chest. The news goes viral, and he gets accused of Seong's killing.
