Is Eric Dane in Euphoria Season 3? Details revealed

HBO's Euphoria is set to return with Season 3 next year, in the spring of 2026. The show will bring back Zendaya's Rue and her high school mates, now adults dealing with new challenges.

While several of the stars, such as Storm Reid and Barbie Ferreira, are revealed not to be part of the upcoming season, many others will still appear in the show. Among those names is Eric Dane. Dane, who plays the character of Cal Jacobs, Nate's father, will be back in Season 3 of Euphoria.

Other than him and Zendaya, the other main characters, which include Sydney Sweeney, Maude Apatow, Jacob Elordi, and Alexa Demie, among several others, will be back in Season 3 of the psychological teen drama.

Is Eric Dane in Euphoria Season 3? Details revealed

Eric Dane portrayed the character of Cal Jacobs. He is the father of Elordi's character, Nate, and was introduced as a closeted bisexual man. In Season 1 of the series, Dane's character Cal is seen getting physically intimate with the transgender teen, Jules, played by Hunter Schafer.

In Season 2, Nate learns about his father's escapades and copies all of his tapes to send them to the police, hinting that Jules might not be the only teen with whom he had physical relations. Therefore, in a fit of rage and disgust, he got his father arrested by the police.

As Eric Dane is confirmed to be a part of Euphoria Season 3, the show might give us a look at what he has been up to and whether he spends time in prison. Since the upcoming series will have a time jump, not much has been revealed about where his character might be after the time jump.

In June 2025, Dane revealed his ALS diagnosis, and amid the health struggles, just a couple of days later, after the announcement, he returned to film the HBO series, which officially began filming in January 2025.

Euphoria Season 3 is one of the highly anticipated series. As it will focus on the characters, now out of high school and into the adult world, the stories will be more intense. It will show us Rue's journey and her struggles to be clean while also depicting more about the other characters.

For instance, other than Rue, Apatow's Lexi will also encounter major changes in her life, as she revealed in a Deadline interview about Lexi being more ambitious in the new season. Furthermore, the new season will also bring back Colman Domingo's Ali Muhammed, and new additions such as Rosalia, Darrell Britt-Gibson, Kadeem Hardison, and Priscilla Delgado, among several others.

Euphoria Season will premiere on HBO Max in the spring of 2026.
