The Kdrama stars Lee Jae-wook in a dual role along with Choi Sung-eun in the lead roles. It will narrate the story of childhood friends, Sung-eun’s character Ha-kyeong, and Jae-wook’s Do-ha meeting again as adults, which also brings back the memories of a tumultuous event that happened a couple of years ago.

Last Summer: Release date news, streaming details, and plot
The upcoming Kdrama, Last Summer, is set to premiere on November 1, 2025. The 12-episode series will release new episodes every Saturday and Sunday at 9:20 p.m. KST on KBS2, until it wraps up on December 7, 2025.
In the Kdrama, Lee Jae-wook will play the character of twin brothers, Baek Do-yeong and Baek Do-ha, who live separately due to their parents’ divorce. Do-ha lives with his mother in the US and every summer comes to live with his brother, Do-yeong, and his father in South Korea for 21 days.
The brothers have made numerous memories in those summer days with a neighborhood friend, Ha-kyeong, who is also revealed to have feelings for the younger brother, Do-ha. In the Kdrama, the story will revolve around the duo’s suppressed feelings for each other, and also a mysterious event that happened two years ago and changed the lives of all three characters.
While it will air on KBS2 in South Korea, a global streaming platform for the Kdrama’s release has not been shared yet.

KBS’s Last Summer will be Lee Jae-wook’s first show where he plays a dual role. Lee Jae-wook was previously seen in Netflix’s historical Kdrama, Dear Hongrang, and the popular fantasy Kdrama, Alchemy of Souls. Besides Jae-wook, the upcoming Kdrama also stars Choi Sung-eun, who was seen in fan-favorite Kdramas such as Beyond Evil and The Sound of Magic.
Last Summer also includes Kim Gun-woo, Choi Byung-mo, Ahn Dong-goo, Lee Tae-goo, Kwon Ah-reum, Ahn Chang-hwan, Jeon Soo-ji, and Jeong Hee-tae, among others. The Kdrama is written by Jeon Yoo-ri, who has also worked in beloved Kdramas such as Kiss Sixth Sense and Radio Romance.
Furthermore, the Kdrama will be directed by Min Yeon-hong, who has also directed The Impossible Heir, another Kdrama starring Lee Jae-wook. Besides that, he has also worked in various other acclaimed Kdramas such as Ugly Heart, both seasons of Missing: The Other Side, and Insider, among several others.
As per Soompi, the production team of the upcoming Kdrama stated that, other than depicting the romance between the lead characters, the show will also use architecture as a highlighting component in the drama, as both the lead characters are revealed to be in the field of architecture. They shared:
"Expectations are already high for the romance between trusted actors Lee Jae-wook and Choi Sung-eun. The drama will not only explore the romance between the two characters but also highlight architecture, a subject rarely seen in dramas, as well as the stories of the people surrounding the main characters."
