What did the growing-up years of Doyle's classic detective look like? Amazon Prime Video's Young Sherlock promises to shed some light on the same by adapting Andrew Lane's eponymous novels for the small screen. Lane's series of young-adult thriller novels, first published in 2010, reimagines Doyle's sleuth in his early years, as he enrolls in Oxford University and develops an interest in forensics, deduction and solving twisted crimes and mysteries.Charlie Higson's bestselling Young Bond series inspired Lane to explore the iconic detective's teenage years in the Young Sherlock book series. The first book, titled Death Cloud, introduces a 14-year-old Sherlock as he is sent to live with his aunt and uncle in Hampshire. While Lane's series follows the titular detective from school to Oxford University, the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series will focus on his later teenage years.Andrew Lane detailed how the Young Sherlock series acts as companion reads with Doyle's works:''It was important that the series took Sherlock from being a 14-year-old boy at school, through university, and leads seamlessly to the opening lines of the first of Doyle's Sherlock novels. I didn't want them to be seen as period pieces with Victorian wood-cut-style covers, but as contemporary, 21st-century books.''The upcoming series, starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin in the lead role, will likely adapt Book 7, titled Stone Cold, which follows Sherlock's arrival at Oxford for his higher education. What can you expect from Hero Fiennes Tiffin's Young Sherlock?
