Netflix's House of Guinness premiered on September 25, 2025. The historical drama series, created by Peaky Blinders' Steven Knight, follows the story of the Guinness siblings and how they manage to take care of the business after their father, Benjamin Guinness's, death.

One of the series's crucial moments was the "will reading", where it was announced how the Guinness patriarch divided the wealth among his four children. Turns out, it did not leave any of them in a happy and satisfying position. He divided most of his wealth between Arthur and Edward, leaving crumbs for Benjamin and Anne. This created challenges for all of them, and also gave Anne a goal in life that she was able to achieve by becoming the voice of reason and support for the underprivileged.

While talking to ScreenRant, Emily Fairn, who played the character of Anne Guinness, revealed how the scene became a driving force for her character and also created several dramatic storylines ahead for her other siblings. She said:

"It’s one of those moments, I think for both of them, is the lesson you don’t really want to have to learn, which is they didn’t get what they wanted, but actually it ended up so much better for them."

More on this in our story.

House of Guinness: Emily Fairns' comments on the "will reading" scene

In Netflix's House of Guinness, apart from Edward and Arthur, Benjamin and Anne were not given much by their father, which angered and disappointed Anne. She had to go through numerous challenges, such as suffering from health problems, and with not much money left by her father, she learned about the difficulties that the underprivileged people had to go through daily.

This resulted in her taking a big step in her life. She then plans to support the less privileged people of their community and shares her plans with her brothers. As the show moves on, Anne becomes involved in philanthropic activities and opens up a trust fund to take care of the needs and necessities of the poor people.

While talking to ScreenRant, Fairn discusses that if Anne's father had left her a great fortune in Netflix's House of Guinness, she might not have thought of opening up a trust fund to help the less fortunate.

To add to her previous comment, she shared:

"I think if Anna had just been given a load of money and a big posh house to live in, she would never have set up the trust and would never have helped all of these people. Would never have helped other women in the family have a purpose on the next generations of Guinness women, and stuff like that."

She further talks about the moment and the scene of the "will reading" from House of Guinness. She shares that when Anne's father's will was read, and she learned about how little she would be receiving from the vast wealth that he had created, she was angry. The moment was dramatic and not to the liking of any of the siblings. However, Anne still created an opportunity for herself, which wouldn't have been possible otherwise. She stated:

"It’s so unfortunate for her, and you see on mine and on fiance’s faces, the realization that you have nothing and what are you going to do with your life, and then suddenly she’s actually made a much better life for herself."

The scene is dramatic, not just for Anne but also for her brothers, and sets up the story for each of them and how they create their own paths from there. Besides Emily Fairn, House of Guinness also stars Anthony Boyle, Louis Partridge, Fionn O'Shea, and Niamh McCormack, among several others.
