"It was a little weird": Sister Wives' Janelle recalls when her mother married Kody's father while trying to pull her away from polygamy

Sister Wives Season 20 Episode 10 was released on November 30, 2025.

The latest episode featured Janelle's celebration over Coyote Pass with her friends. Fellow cast member Meri jumped into dating while Kody talked to Robyn and reflected on his behavior with his ex-wives.

One of the conversations featured in the recent episode was Janelle recalling how she got into polygamy. At the time, her mom was against the idea. So, she came to save Janelle, but something unexpected happened. In her private confession, Sister Wives star Janelle shared:

"My mom came to save me from the polygamist, because no daughter of hers was going to marry some...into some crazy cult. And she ended up marrying Kody's dad, and they actually got married three months before we did."

She added:

"When they decided to get married, I was like, it's a little bit hard to explain to somebody, but it's alright. It was a little weird at first. But I'm like, it's okay. It's great."

Sister Wives Season 20 Episode 10: Janelle reflects on her marriage and being a polygamist

Sister Wives Season 20 Episode 10 featured Janelle reflecting on her relationship with Kody. She talked about their marriage and more. It happened while she was enjoying a dinner with her girlfriends' group. They all wanted her to start dating.

"I mean, they're really pushing the dating thing. I...it's fine. Whatever. Doesn't mean I have to act," confessed Janelle.

Her friends asked her whether they were asking too many questions. But Janelle noted that it was fine. One of her friends asked how she told her mom about becoming a polygamist.

Janelle noted that she was intrigued by the idea of being a polygamist. Later, in her confession, she recalled learning about polygamy after high school.

"I prayed about it, and I just really felt strongly that that was my life path," confessed Janelle.

Sister Wives star then met Kody's family. Her mother did not like the idea.

"My mom's like, Oh, Heck no. Heck, no. Heck no. Heck no. My mom came to save me and ended up marrying Kody's dad, and that's it," she added.

Before Kody and Janelle's marriage, her mother got married to Kody's father. She felt as if she had someone with her there. The rest of her family did not understand her choice. They were hesitant to be in touch with her.

Sister Wives star was asked whether there were any other women whom they considered getting into the family before Robyn. She revealed that there was one individual. But it didn't work out.

Janelle confessed about how people change after a long marriage. She shared that something in Kody "changed" after he turned 50. She also mentioned that her children had grown and she was free to do anything she wanted to.
