HBO's freshman horror series It: Welcome to Derry has decided on an early release for Episode 2 on HBO Max. Stephen King fans can now celebrate Halloween with the author's iconic shape-shifting clown as Episode 2 will drop on HBO Max on Halloween night, ie, October 31.

It: Welcome to Derry marks the return of Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise, the creepy clown who first debuted on the big screen in It in 2017. Pennywise is ready for another cycle of violence and horror in this prequel series, created by the Muschietti siblings, Andy & Barbara and Jason Fuchs, all of whom were involved in the It films.

Set in 1962 Maine, the show follows the arrival of a couple with their young son in the town of Derry. Their arrival marks the beginning of a wave of disappearances and eerie happenings, signs that the terror lurking in Derry’s sewers, known as It, may have returned.

In addition to Bill Skarsgård, It: Welcome to Derry also stars Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, James Remar, Stephen Rider and Chris Chalk.

It: Welcome to Derry expands on Stephen King's horror universe

The It: Welcome to Derry premiere was a spooky outing that set the tone for this horror prequel series. After terrorizing a generation of children (and adults) in his first two outings in the It franchise, the shape-shifting Pennywise clown returns for a new adventure in his origin story. The creepy clown is now a popular horror icon and still harbours many secrets and hidden truths about his sinister origins.

It: Welcome to Derry promises to expand on Pennywise's lore and myth as a new group of children becomes his target. The prequel series is set two decades before the It films and use new characters and an intertwined storyline to explore the haunting origins of the malevolent being. While the show boasts new characters, the inclusion of King's fictional characters like Dick Hallorann (from The Shining) and the Hanlon family (from the It movies) suggests that the prequel series is deeply rooted in King's horror universe.

The series promises to expand on the creeping dread and emotional depth in the original novels, which enchanted fans in the It movies. Fresh layers of fear will revisit Pennywise's reign of horror and the show will ensure that Derry remains one of the most terrifying towns in horror fiction.

Mark your calendars for October 31 and do not forget to catch the early release of Episode 2 on HBO Max.
