Jamie Campbell Bower is teasing the table-talks with his latest comments. His comments have intensified speculation around how Stranger Things' finale is reaching our doorstep on New Year’s Eve.

Speaking to ScreenRant, the actor behind Stranger Things' Henry Creel, also known as Vecna, hinted that the emotional truths about his character, something that has been subtly teased in Season 5, will be revealed in the finale.

Jamie Campbell Bower sets the tone for Stranger Things Finale on New Year's Eve

The interview arrives at a potent time just ahead of the Season 5 finale. Vol 2 reframed much of what viewers thought they understood about Vecna, the Mind Flayer, and Will Byers’ continued connection to the Upside Down.

Stranger Things has positioned Vecna as its ultimate threat since Hawkins came under his influence. The recent episodes have complicated that mythology. Will and Vecna have been brought closer into a more intimate narrative parallel.

When interviewer Liam Crowley suggested that Will and Henry feel like characters on the same emotional and characteristic plane, Bower didn’t push back. He seconded the parallel before adding a carefully chosen tease:

“All will be revealed.”

It’s the kind of non-answer that, in Stranger Things terms, usually means something big is coming. This is also the kind of answer Vecna would give in the show.

Liam Crowley asked,

I'm so excited to hear your reaction when you do get to see it because like you're saying about how Henry is that person who you feel sorry for, and I feel like Will and Henry both are on that same path. They just go in different directions. Did you feel that parallel between the two characters?

To which Bower replied,

Yes. Yeah, there's definitely ... I think it's a hard question to answer because yes, there's definitely an emotional connection between the two characters. Yes, yes, yes, yes.

The discussion stems from Will’s monologue in the penultimate episode of Volume 2, where he finally reveals the truth about his sexuality. Although Bower wasn’t on set for that scene, Vecna’s presence looms over it regardless.

Interviewer Liam Crowley asked,

You're one of the only main cast members who wasn't present for the amazing Will monologue that happens in the penultimate episode. Have you seen it?

To which Bower replied,

Not in its entirety yet. I should watch it.

Liam Crowley further asked,

Were you present on set that day?

Jamie Campbell Bower replied,

No. No.

Will’s as planted by Vecna to terrify him of his future in isolation propels this confession. The moment is impactful, and it leans into the heart that the show is known for.

This moment of honesty has a subtle but deliberate implication: Vecna is not just a monster acting from the outside, but a force deeply entangled with Will’s inner life.

What stands out most is Bower’s continued insistence that Henry Creel is someone the audience should feel sorry for.

This isn’t a new position in Stranger Things. Multiple cast members from the ensemble, including Noah himself, have opened up about how Henry is essentially a very misunderstood villain.

The stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow already gave Henry a lore that portrays him differently: he was affected by the Mind Flayer way before he became the hateful Vecna that the show has portrayed so far.

Taken together, these threads point toward a finale that may blur the line between villain and victim.

If Henry is revealed to have been as much a pawn of the Mind Flayer as Will once was, it would radically reframe the show’s central conflict. Vecna would still be responsible for immense harm, but his role as the series’s “big bad” would become morally messier and emotionally heavier.

The last and final episode of Stranger Things Season 5 arrives 31st December 2025 on Netflix.
