Episode 4 of King & Conqueror began with the Earls attacking London and ended with the hint of the upcoming war for the throne. While Harold rescued Edith, he also made his own elder brother an enemy.
Elsewhere, Lady Emma’s secret schemes were exposed in front of Edward, while Henry met his end at the hands of William. Furthermore, Godwin warned Harold about the upcoming war for the throne and asked him to fight for it.

King & Conqueror Episode 4 recap: Harold rescues Edith
In Episode 4 of King & Conqueror, Harold attacks London with the help of the Earls. While he does so, he also spares Edward’s life only on one condition, if he will produce an heir to the throne with Gunhild.
With Edith and their daughter safe and among their family, they return to Wessex. In the wake of Earl Siward’s death, Harold decides to make Tostig Northumbria’s Earl, even after his father suggests appointing Sweyn.
During Judith and Tostig’s wedding ceremony, Harold announces about making Tostig Earl of Northumbria. While Tostig confesses he does not want the position, Harold reassures him that with his help, he can do the job. A disappointed Sweyn leaves the ceremony after the announcement.
King & Conqueror Episode 4 recap: William kills King Henry
In Episode 4 of the BBC drama, King Henry escapes, prompting William to suspect Odo’s loyalty. William confronts him in Normandy, but Odo denies his claims. William orders him to leave and become a churchman.
Furthermore, Matilda reveals to William of Baldwin’s plan of controlling everything after Henry’s death, and asks him to kill the King of France. Later, in Alsace, Henry and William duel, in which William ends up killing the former.
After Henry’s death, his young son, Phillip, will take over the throne. Baldwin, his guardian, introduces him to William.
King & Conqueror Episode 4 recap: Lady Emma’s demise
Other than Edith returning safely to Wessex with her family and the death of King Henry, Episode 4 of the historical drama also saw the end of Lady Emma. From the beginning of the episode, she had been mocking Edward’s failure of not being able to protect London.
However, her mockery ends when Queen Gunhild finally exposes her schemes plotting against Edward. Edward discovers that Emma had been sending a huge amount of money to Norway and raising an army without telling him.
Emma then reveals that she did pay King Hadrada of Norway to end the Godwins and resorts to insulting Edward on his incompetence as a King again. Unable to take her mockery anymore, he hits her with his crown. King Edward later repeatedly bashes and mutilates Emma with his crown, killing her with it.
At the End of Episode 4, Godwin warns Harold of the upcoming war before his death.
