Is Jinu from Kpop Demon Hunters really inspired by Cha Eun-woo?

One of the most visually striking characters in Kpop Demon Hunters is Jinu, the charming leader of the boy band Saja Boys. To design his look, the creative team drew inspiration from well-known Korean actors.
Among the top names on their reference board was Cha Eun-woo, known for his flawless visuals and polished image. They wanted Jinu to embody that same soft yet commanding presence.
Director Maggie Kang shared that the team aimed to give Jinu a timeless, K-drama-style charm. Alongside Cha Eun-woo, actors like Nam Joo-hyuk also influenced the character’s elegant appearance.
The goal was to create a figure who felt instantly familiar to fans of Korean pop culture. That classic appeal helped Jinu stand out in Kpop Demon Hunters. Interestingly, actor Ahn Hyo-seop eventually voiced Jinu, but the character’s design was finished before he joined the cast.
Still, Kang noticed the accidental resemblance between Jinu and Ahn’s Business Proposal role. It just shows how strong that visual archetype is in Kpop Demon Hunters.
