Paramount+’s much-buzzed drama Landman is preparing to return with Season 2. Fans of Taylor Sheridan’s signature gritty universe (Yellowstone) will have plenty to look forward to.

Season 2 of Landman is expected to deliver a unique mix of ruthless corporate drama, real-world chaos, and a dash of family tension in a West Texas oil-field story. Led by Billy Bob Thornton as veteran “landman” Tommy Norris, Landman hits Paramount+ on November 16, 2025.

Christian Wallace, the producer of the show, recently hinted at how the new season will pick up on everything the team learned in Season 1 and push it even deeper. He hinted that the characters are now fully settled into their identities, which means the drama will gear up significantly.

Season 1 left off with a cliffhanger, with a change of dynamics involving Monty Miller (Jon Hamm) being gone and Tommy. A change in the presidency of M-Tex pushes future seasons toward deeper turmoil across both the oil fields and the Norris family home.

According to Goldderby, Landman's co-creator and producer, Christian Wallace, commented on the character development of Season 2 and how it is different from Season 1. The characters are now fully inhabited by both the writers and the cast.

He said:

“Everyone's figuring out their characters — from Taylor figuring out who everybody is, to our cast figuring out who their characters are..."

He further added:

“It's so fun to start Season 2 with everyone fully knowing exactly who they are and where they want to go with that character so everyone can lean into the humor [and] the drama.”

The Paramount series is inspired by the Boomtown podcast, and Wallace shared how it gently shapes the storyline :

“Parts of the podcast find their way in little shards, little pieces,”

He noted.

“You'll see a few scenes later in the season that are directly inspired by things that happen in Boomtown. But the world of Landman is getting bigger and bigger this season."

Wallace sparked curiosity, throwing light on Tommy’s new position. The changed dynamics bring both discomfort and storytelling potential in Season 2. As president of M-Tex, the character is thrust into a corporate world he never wanted to join. Wallace said:

“He's clearly not as comfortable wearing a suit as he is putting on his hard hat”

He further added:

“Just watching Tommy squirm in those spaces is pretty fun.”

Yet, Tommy is not the only character to find himself in uncharted territory. Cami, too, faces an industry that was never built for her. Wallace hinted that she will “step up and find her way in a new world,” navigating shifting power dynamics in Monty’s absence.

The family dynamic also remains key in Season 2, and Wallace suggests viewers will gain a deeper look at Tommy’s roots with the introduction of his father. He expressed:

“Ultimately, they are this loving, dysfunctional family,”

He also expressed how this season will have

“a lot of tender moments, a lot of funny moments.”
