Episode 3 of Landman Season 2 is titled "Almost a Home" and it begins with a situation that seems ordinary but turns dangerous almost instantly. A group of hunters believes they have successfully trapped a boar and are even ready to celebrate the moment.

And just as they're about to capture the moment, one of them suddenly collapses. To make it even more mysterious, the other hunters also fall. It looks like they're all sick and might be facing a serious health issue.

And then, Landman Season 2 episode 3 reveals the actual reason: Those men were standing next to an oil site that was leaking hydrogen sulfide. This is one of the deadliest gases to exist in the oil fields that can kill people even before they realize that it's around them, leaking.

Following Tommy's instructions from the previous episode, Dale's crew, including Boss, Ben, Jerrell, and Russ arrive at the site to check the well. And when they're on the site, they witness that people are already down, poisoned by the leaked gas.

Before they can even react, the wind shifts and pushes the dangerous gas toward them. The warning devices on their shirts start beeping, so they know the gas is close. They all run to get away from it.

Most of them escape, but the gas still hits them enough to make their eyes burn, make them feel like vomiting, and give them strong headaches. This is how episode 3 of Season 2 once again reminds viewers how dangerous it is to work in the oil fields, as the place is all about uncertainty.

As the story continues in Landman Season 2 episode 3, Ariana can be seen having a very tough first day trying to rebuild her life. Since Cooper isn’t supporting her anymore, she needs a job and applies at The Patch Café.

It’s a noisy bar where the customers often behave badly. The staff even warns her that dealing with rude or creepy people is basically normal there. Though Ariana was trying to keep her calm from the start, she ended up breaking the nose of a customer as he went too far with her.

Ariana gets ready to quit right then, but Barney stops her. He tells her that the workers stand by each other and won’t let customers treat them badly. And considering that she needs money for survival, Ariana agrees to stay.

At the same time, Tommy and Angela are on their way to Fort Worth. Tommy is going there because he needs to handle money problems caused by Cooper’s business choices. And while he's tensed, Angela is busy daydreaming about buying big fancy houses that they absolutely cannot afford and continues to ignore the financial reality of the Noris family.

Later in the episode, Tommy meets Dan Morrell. If you saw episode 2, then you must be interested to know that Dan is the same man who was previously introduced under the name Gallino in Landman Season 2.

Dan acts friendly and praises Cooper’s work, and then he tries to convince Tommy to start a deeper business partnership with him. But Tommy knows the truth: Dan’s money comes from illegal activities.

He refuses to let Cooper or himself get mixed up in that kind of trouble. Dan doesn’t like being turned down and makes a scary comment, hinting that he has enough power to either save someone’s life or end it.

After the meeting is over, Tommy clearly tells Cooper to stop drilling for now. He wants to talk face-to-face at Dorothy’s funeral. Thankfully, Cooper takes the warning seriously.

Episode 3 of Landman Season 2 finally explains why it feels like M-Tex is gradually going down and might face the biggest setback soon. Tommy meets with Cami, Nathan, and Rebecca and realizes that M-Tex isn’t one company.

It's actually made up of several smaller companies (LLCs), and all of them depend on money that was supposed to come from Monty’s main holding company. But the cash that should have been sent back to those smaller companies never arrived.

What's even more startling is that every single one of them has been surviving on huge loans. This means that almost everything is borrowed. Rebecca then tries to explain that Monty likely moved money around between companies while chasing big purchases.

And while desperately trying to make money, Monty ended up in a huge financial mess, including debts, a huge mortgage, and even a private jet that was bought using borrowed money. This is also the point where Cami is shocked, confused, and highly tense about the situation.

Now, the only chance of fixing things is to find one special account for M-Tex that should have been used to pay off the loans. Cami immediately thinks of Alan as he might know something. However, he keeps ignoring her calls, making it look more suspicious.

As Landman Season 2 episode 3 continues, Tommy and Cami eventually track Alan down at the Cattleman’s Club. He agrees to come to the office and talk about this current situation.

But before they can leave the club, Tommy notices Dan. Once again, he's being incredibly polite and humble. After all, Cami is also present and she's another key figure in M-Tex. Then Angela shows up, joins Dan for drinks, and unknowingly puts Tommy in an uncomfortable position (something she's skilled at).

Later that night, Dan corners Tommy and Cami with an offer that sounds like it could save M-Tex. But Tommy knows that taking help from Dan means taking a big risk with consequences that might take everyone down at once.

So, Tommy decides to reject Dan's offer. However, Cami is heartbroken and desperate to save M-Tex and Monty's reputation in the oil business. By the end of the episode, she's holding Monty's picture, feeling all alone and confused.

Landman Season 2 Episode 3 concludes with a heavy warning: if Cami accepts Dan’s deal, Tommy will face constant challenges in his personal and professional lives. So, he must quickly come up with a solution, which means outsmarting Dan: The man who operates in dangerous, hidden ways.
