It's back to the oilfields as Paramount+ has finally set a release date for Landman Season 2, created by Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan. The hit Neo-Western drama series will return for a sophomore season on November 16, 2025, roughly 11 months after its Season 1 finale on January 12, 2025.
Landman is inspired by Texas Weekly and Imperative Entertainment's 11-part podcast Boomtown. Co-creator Christian Wallace hosted the podcast, recounting his own experiences as a roughneck in the oilfields of West Texas.
Landman Season 2 will see the return of Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, Operations in charge and Landman for M-Tex Oil Company, headed by his boss Monty Miller (played by Mad Men star Jon Hamm). Season 1 followed Tommy as he navigated the cutthroat oilfield world in Texas, tough terrains, business rivals, and cartel interference.
Sheridan and Wallace also executive produce the show, along with Thornton, J.K. Nickell & Megan Creydt for Texas Monthly, and Dan Friedkin & Jason Hoch for Imperative Entertainment.

All about Landman Season 2's returning and new cast
Season 2 of Landman will return on Paramount+ on November 16, 2025. While the cast for Season 2 has not been confirmed yet, the main cast is expected to reprise their characters.
In addition to Thornton's Tommy, Season 2 will see the return of Ali Larter as Tommy's ex-wife Angela, Jacob Lofland as Tommy's son Cooper, Michelle Randolph as Tommy's daughter Ainsley, Andy Garcia as cartel boss Galino, Demi Moore as Cami, and Paulina Chávez as Ariana. Hamm will likely not return as his character died in the Season 1 finale after suffering a heart attack. He might still appear in some flashback sequences.
Landman Season 2 has also added a host of new actors, including Sam Elliot, Stefania Spampinato as Galino's wife, Guy Burnet, and Miriam Silverman.
Thornton confirmed Elliot's casting in Season 2 in an interview with Collider:
“Yeah, well, I can't say anything about his role. But I'll say I've known Sam [Elliott] for a long time. We've known each other since the 80s, and to have him there is just a joy for me. He's been a hero of mine my whole career, and I call him my friend, and he's a great actor.”
What to expect from the Fall premiere?
Sharing his initial reaction to the script for Season 2, Thornton said in an interview with Comic Book Resources:
"I loved it. Taylor knows this show very well, he’s got a vision for it so it’s pretty easy. I didn't expect to read it and go, 'Wait a minute, hang on here.' It was great."
The Season 1 finale was an intense hour for Tommy, who was left in charge of M-Tex after Monty's sudden death. Monty's widow, Cami, asked Tommy to close a high-risk/high-reward deal, which will likely have consequences for the Landman in the upcoming season.
While Tommy was already navigating things for his boss behind the scenes, his death completely changed the dynamics for him, making him the man who calls the shots. Discussing his new role in Landman Season 2, Thornton teased with Collider:
“I think Tommy is still always going to be a landman at heart, and I think he's a reluctant president. So he's not really the suit kind of guy, but he's got to do both jobs, so he's going to do his best at it.”
After Gallino shockingly saved him from the cartel torture, Tommy will surely find himself surrounded by new enemies and opportunities in the upcoming season.
Landman Season 2 will arrive on Paramount+ on November 16, 2025.
