Among the key figures in Landman Season 2 is Cooper, the only son of Tommy Norris, played by Jacob Lofland. In the first chapter of the series, it looked like Tommy was trying hard to keep Cooper away from the oil business.
By Season 2, Cooper finds his footing and steps into the business. Even Tommy started to trust him, but things seem to be really difficult for him now. Especially after the latest episode in which he beat up the man who tried to assault Ariana, and his actions could land him in jail if they don't hire someone who can justify them.
In an interview, Jacob Lofland was asked about his expectations for Cooper and Ariana's bond, to which he said:
"...There were some twists and turns that I promise you did not see coming. I tried to predict every bit of it before we read it, and some of it blew me off of feet. I was like, “I did not see that coming."
As seen in the recent episodes of Landman Season 2, Ariana said yes to Cooper when he proposed, and now they're eagerly waiting to take the next step. And according to Lofland, there will be events that fans didn't expect.
Landman Season 2 star Jacob Lofland talks about the show ahead of the finale

Landman Season 2 finale is just a few days away, and the last few moments of episode 9 have ignited curiosity among fans. As explained before, Cooper saw Ariana being attacked by a man at the bar and he immediately pulled him up, only to beat him severely.
At the same time, the incident is being recorded. And it seems like it has only recorded Cooper beating the man, and not what happened before. This sets up serious consequences and leaves the story unresolved.
"Everything’s just a pipe dream until you start putting it in motion. I think he’s dreaming big. I think they both are. This is a Taylor [Sheridan] show. There’s going to be roadblocks."
Jacob Lofland says that season two includes many unexpected story developments. Even though he tried to guess what would happen before reading the scripts, several moments surprised him completely. He says some twists shocked him so much that he did not see them coming at all.
He was also asked how Landman Season 2 sets the stage for Season 3, to which Jacob Lofland explains that the finale doesn’t work like a typical cliffhanger. Instead of stopping at one shocking moment, it ends in a way that naturally makes viewers eager to continue watching.
The actor said:
"And I’ll tell you personally, I cannot wait to go back and start season three. I cannot wait. I’m looking so forward to it because of where we left off."
He continued:
"Like, the first episode’s going to be awesome. I haven’t read anything, I don’t have any idea what’s coming."
He says the conclusion is strong enough that it creates anticipation on its own. The story leaves open questions and unresolved situations that make people curious about what happens next.
The actor himself is excited to return for Season 3. Even though he hasn’t seen any scripts yet and doesn’t know the direction of the new season, he feels confident that the opening episode will be strong.
