Landman Season 2 has the audience glued to their screen as Rebecca Falcone’s, played by Kayla Wallace, life takes an unexpected turn. The Paramount+ hit drama series revolves around Tommy Norris (played by Billy Bob Thornton) as he takes on the cash-rich yet dangerous world of oil rigs in West Texas. Rebecca is a hard-nosed lawyer for the oil company, who is determined to keep the legal challenges away.

While Rebecca’s intimidating personality and advanced expertise make her a force to be reckoned with, in the latest episode of Landman Season 2, titled “Dancing Rainbows,” fans were surprised to see a more vulnerable side to her character. Her brief romance with Charlie Newsom (played by Guy Burnet) caught both the audience and Kayla Wallace herself off guard. As per Variety, Wallace shared,

“It’s a very uncomfortable situation for her, but she’s so strong that she can handle it. With Rebecca, for all of her career, she has had success at the very top of any priority over anything in her life. When she lets her guard down and ends up in this situation, it’s a bit jarring for her. It’s so much fun because you get to explore these new sides of her. ‘How would she react in this situation?’ As an actor, getting to play these vulnerable sides to her is a lot of fun as well, because it makes her more human.”

Landman Season 2 uncovers a surprising new side of Rebecca Falcone

In Landman Season 2, episode 4 titled ‘Dancing Rainbows’, Rebecca is on her way to deal with a serious accident involving an M-Tex truck. She boards the corporate plan, where she makes acquaintance with Charlie. Rebecca has long been in a dilemma over her role in the company, and her current situation only deepens her troubles.

Trying to calm her nerves due to the frightening turbulence, Rebecca will end up drinking with the charming and mysterious Charlie in the Landman Season 2 episode. The thermos he offers comprised a sinful mix of vodka and watermelon. The next morning, she finds herself in his bed and the two share an intimate moment. While speaking to Gold Derby, Kayla Wallace shared,

“You see this boarded-up woman have this very intense fear of flying and I love that. We're starting to see some of her whole personality, and the cracks in her that make her human.”

The scene in Landman Season 2 showcased a side of Rebecca that the audience had never witnessed before, making it even more captivating. The two characters strike a connection on the plane despite their distinctive personalities. As per Variety, Wallace opined,

“He’s got this energy that is so opposite from the way she is, and especially in that situation, when they hop on the plane, and her anxiety starts to ramp up, he’s the cool cucumber that she needs, and he’s sitting right there…It’s pretty funny that these two opposites are placed right next to each other and experiencing what Rebecca thinks is a disaster. For him, it’s just another day on the job.”

The series is created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace. Kayla Wallace shared that when she received the scripts, she had not expected her character arc in Landman Season 2. She credits Sheridan, for the way her character is evolving in the show. She said,

“I love how strong he writes all of his women, and how beautifully loud they are in who they are…He writes these women who are unapologetically themselves. We’ve got such a range on our show, too. Such different types of women, and they’re all so strong in their own way, but so different from one another. I’m honored I get to play a character that Taylor has written, because all of his female parts are written with so much strength.”

It appears that Rebecca, who usually keeps her cards close to her chest, experienced a rare carefree moment in Landman Season 2. Wallace teased the possibility of Charlie making another appearance in the series. As per Gold Derby, she said,

“There's a bit of banter, isn't there? People will just have to keep watching to find out! I’ll say that they started it off with a bit of a spark, so you might get to see some of those questions answered. It's a fun dynamic to play with.”
