Here is a quick Law & Order Season 25 Episode 8 recap

The murder of a rich CEO draws several questions about his family in Law & Order Season 25 Episode 8

From get go, Law & Order Season 25 Episode 8 delves into the mysterious case of the murder of a rich CEO, Bob Gladstone. Riley and Walker are at the scene of the crime, where they learn about the victim's legacy. Bob, owner of a famed toy company, is murdered the night before his wedding. Bob was getting married to a young woman, Chloe, who had found him murdered. Chloe is 22 and Bob was 74.

Bob did not have a prenup with his fiancée, which was a point of contention for his children, who had a lot to lose if things went south. As a matter of fact, the guests at the reception party appeared to have an issue with the wedding.

Bob’s wealth stacked up to millions and thus, his will becomes the most important evidence in the investigation. His will, which was written when he was first married, stated that everything he owns will go to his wife. However, if he is not married, it will go to his children.

In Law & Order Season 25 Episode 8, Riley and Walker learn that someone in the next room heard Bob having a dispute and later saw a staff member exit. Chloe found him dead an hour after that.

The team are able to find the staff called Emille, who was one of the last people to see Bob. When they question him about the supposed argument, Emille shares that he indeed had a dispute with him that night. Emille’s wife was left paralyzed after getting injured at Bob’s store and questioned him about it. Though he tried to get reparation previously, Bob used his lawyers to strong-arm him to dropping the suit. Emille was drowning in the medical bills for his wife, and it broke him.

At the hotel, Emille showed up at Bob’s room to show his wife’s medical records. However, after having a more empathetic conversation, Bob agreed to help him by giving him his personal number. With the evidence in hand and the fact that Bob had made a phone call after Emille left the hotel, it is obvious that Emille had no role in Bob’s murder.

In the same footage, Bob’s son, Paul Gladstone, is also seen leaving the hotel with extra food from the hotel. Paul was a social worker, who was involved in helping countries fight food shortage. He was at the reception only because his father asked him and Paul cared very little about his inheritance.

The fiancée becomes the prime suspect in Law & Order Season 25 Episode 8

Bob’s daughter, Amanda, is however a different story in Law & Order Season 25 Episode 8. She was vocal about her opinion about Chloe and even called her a gold-digger. Her husband, Derek Nestor, also worked for the company and were a well-known New York socialite couple.

From when Chloe came into their lives, Derek and Amanda were unwilling to accept her. Derek even got a private investigator to find out about Chloe, which revealed that she was on shady websites and had filed for bankruptcy. Her image did not fit someone Bob would have been associated with, which appalled Amanda and Derek.

But the twist in the story comes when it is revealed that Chloe and Bob had already got married six months ago. The upcoming nuptials was for the sake of the family. This effectively means that she would get everything as per the will and Amanda was against it.

In Law & Order Season 25 Episode 8, the investigative team find the alleged murder weapon in Chloe’s room, which leaves her shocked. She is arrested. People refuse to believe that Chloe’s intentions of marrying a much older man was as innocent as it seems, even though his therapist insists that Bob was happy with her. Samantha Maroun resists falling into the stereotype of picturing Chloe as a gold-digger.

Shocking truth about Derek comes to light in Law & Order Season 25 Episode 8

At Chloe’s trial, the therapist also brings up the fact that Derek was a troublemaker. Chloe’s lawyer also alleges that Derek wanted power and Chloe in picture meant his role will be diluted. As for her past, Chloe shares that Bob knew her history. Her empathy and genuine story about her love for Bob wins the court.

However, Amanda is adamant that Chloe is painting a false picture. In fact, she had left the room that night after the murder, which Amanda knew as she was on phone with her daughter’s pediatrician. This information however has Price and Maroun conflicted. They wonder why she had not reveal this before and waited till this point in the trial.

Amanda did not know that her call was recorded. After they check on the calls, it is revealed that Derek had interrupted the call. Derek was apparently in the room with his family as per his initial account. Amanda lied about his alibi but ended up exposing the truth by revealing about the phone call.

In Law & Order Season 25 Episode 8, the team uncovers Derek’s debt, who was looking forward to Bob’s money to wriggle out of it. Chole was the perfect fall person, and he went along with the narrative about her being a gold-digger. Chloe is furious about her character being questioned in the court. She feels that her reputation has been ruined. The charges against her are dropped and Bob’s son-in-law, Derek, becomes the prime suspect in the case.
