Episode 2 of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Season 27 sees Benson and her squad investigating a new case. The case of an elite club called Sensate, exploiting and drugging women.
Furthermore, a new detective, Jake Griffin, joins the team and does everything that is the opposite of what Benson's squad is known for. However, his not following Benson's orders also helps them get the upper hand in the case when he brings a woman to testify in the case. The episode also hints at Valesco's exit from the show.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Season 27 Episode 2 recap - Detective Griffin joins the team
In Episode 2 of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Season 27, a new member is introduced in Benson's team. He is revealed to be Chief Tynan's partner's son, and shares that he wants to learn from Benson and become a good detective.
However, he has a start too dicey to work on with a squad that specializes in victims who are in a vulnerable position. Just like in the new case, where they find a woman named Maya, who finds herself in Times Square, in a disoriented state, with a QR code stamped on her wrist.
By scanning the code, they learn about an elite club called Sensate where Maya works. After being reprimanded a couple of times by Benson, Griffin goes undercover with Bruno and gains access to the club.

Although Griffin claims he had been in several undercover missions in Episode 2 of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Season 27, his experience in the club suggests otherwise. The club is full of people engaging in s*xual activities, and teh duo also learn that everyone in the club has to sign a consent form that says that anyone in the club can do whatever they like with them, a reason why Maya might have not revealed anything.
Later, the club is raided by the NYPD. However, the club's owner, Derek, does not reveal anything and says that whatever happens in the club is consensual. However, Benson learns that even after ordering her team to get out of the club, Griffin still went there again and brought a woman named Isabella to testify in the case.
Even with Isabella's help, Derek's lawyer twists the case in their favor.

At the end of Episode 2 of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Season 27, a video of Maya that Bruno found online is presented in court. After Benson convinces her, Maya testifies in the case. She reveals about her assault and all the activities that go on in the club, resulting in Derek being charged for promoting prostitution and s*x trafficking.
Furthermore, in the episode, it was also revealed that Valesco might be leaving the squad soon for an undercover operation, and shares it with Benson.
