Over the years, Law & Order has presented numerous terrifying cases that depicted crimes that take place around us. Episode 18 of Season 8 was one such terrifying episode.
The episode titled Stalker followed the story of a nurse named Andrea Blake, who was being stalked by someone, but the detectives did not believe her until she was murdered. A former criminal named Russell Lowery was then arrested for the murder of Andrea.
However, the case also drew a wedge between the detectives as the guilt of not believing the woman rose.
More on this in our story.
Law & Order: The detectives refused to believe Andrea

The Law & Order episode began with Andrea being found unconscious near the stairs to her apartment. She tells the detectives that she got into a fight with a man who had been continuously stalking her. She also tells them about the e-mails that she had been receiving from her stalker.
With their investigation, the two detectives, Rey Curtis and Lennie Briscoe, find out that she might be lying about getting into a fight with her stalker. However, she did not lie about the e-mails she had received.
As a result, they arrested a man named Lewis Dutton, who was found to be taking secret pictures of women and putting them on the internet without their knowledge. However, Andrea is sure that Dutton was not the man who stalked her.
Law & Order: Andrea is murdered

After seeing that the detectives did not believe her about being stalked and that Dutton was not the man, she knew she was going to die, as she even says to herself in the Law & Order episode 18 of Season 8. And that's what happens next: Andrea is found dead in her apartment.
Before dying, Andrea also managed to call 911, which later helped the police catch her real stalker and killer. The detectives later learn that a man named Russell Lowery had been stalking her for a long time. When he was in prison and working as a telemarketer, he found out about his supervisor's embezzling activities and blackmailed him into giving him access to his computer, through which he began stalking Andrea.
His obsession with Andrea remained even after he came out of prison, and he began stalking her and also got into her apartment.
Law & Order: Russell Lowery is convicted

Andrea's death was hard on Briscoe after he learned about her death. Later, he began thinking that Andrea might be telling the truth when she told them about being attacked by Russell. However, the episode never shows whether Andrea was telling the truth about the attack or not.
Furthermore, the case also becomes a reason that builds friction between the partners, just like the prosecutors, Curtis also believed initially that Briscoe was lying to solve the case after he changed his initial report in Andrea's case.
Additionally, ADA Jack McCoy used this opportunity and learned about what Curtis had told Andrea's Boss. He revealed that when Andrea's boss asked him whether she faked her attack, Curtis told him that Andrea was certainly being stalked and might be in danger, resulting in preventing her from getting fired and sued.
This helps McCoy in convicting Russell of the crime of stalking and later killing Andrea.
