Leanne Season 2 needs to happen to give the fans a taste of Leanne’s newfound confidence with her single hood

Leanne premiered on Netflix on July 31, 2025 and proved to be quite a hit among both critics and audiences. The official synopsis of the show, as mentioned by Rotten Tomatoes, says,

“When her husband leaves her for another woman, a resilient Southern mom starts over with the support of her loving, but unfiltered family.”

Talking about her character and the show, Leanne Morgan said in an interview with Tudum,

“There’s the vulnerability of opening yourself up after being abandoned by the person you built your life with. It’s not just about meeting someone new. It’s about risking the pain of being hurt again.”

Leanne Season 1 sees the protagonist being left by her husband and she also finds a new man at the end of the season. The fact that a woman, after being dumped in a marriage of 33 years finds the courage to fall in love again has naturally resonated with the audience and the series deserves another season simply to elaborate on the quiet strength that the protagonist shows.

Leanne has not been renewed by Netflix yet

Within the first four days of its premiere on Netflix, the series achieved 2.7 million views and 14.9 million hours watched . While the numbers might not appear to be huge when compared to thriller or mystery shows, they are still good. Moreover, the Rotten Tomato critics score for the series stands at a solid 78% and the audience rating is even higher with 89%.

Therefore, judging by the way the show has performed, Netflix should renew it. Moreover, storyline wise also, Season 2 has great potential to explore the protagonists’ new found freedom and singlehood as she navigates her life after 33 years of marriage.

At the end of the first season, the protagonist is shown to become a grandmother yet again and she tells the child,

“Turns out your grandmom was a lot stronger than she ever knew. Life can take twists and turns, but sometimes it's the only way to find out who you are really are.”

This resilience and hope of the protagonist is something that leaves a lot of room for another season. Moreover, as season 1 draws to a close Leanne and her present boyfriend Andrew have a rather awkward encounter with her former husband Bill.

In case another season happens, it would be interesting to see how she deals with these two men in her life and whether she chooses to remain single or continue with Andrew.
