Little Disasters, the latest psychological thriller series on Paramount+, has audience reeling from the shocking twist in the finale. The series revolves around Jess, played by Diane Kruger, whose life takes an unexpected turn when she brings her daughter to the hospital with a severe head injury. String of events set in motion that not only puts her family in jeopardy but also forces her friends to reconsider the truth.Jess’s life takes a drastic turn after her daughter’s injury in Little DisastersLittle Disasters takes off from when Jess brings her baby daughter, Betsy, to the hospital after a fall. But her friend Liz finds that Betsy has a skull fracture, which does not support Jess’s version. Liz is forced to bring in the Social Services. Jess feels let down by Liz, who in turn believes that her friend is hiding something from her. The detectives on the job believe that Jess had purposely hurt the child. Jess and her husband Ed’s relationship had hit a snag after the birth of their third child. While questioning Jess, it is clear that she is inconsistent with the sequence of events that led to Betsy's head injury. Jess’s friend Mel discovers all the knives in a cupboard at her house. Jess's other two kids immediately leave the room when Mel takes the knife. They tell her that their mother had told the kids to not be in kitchen when the knives are kept outside. Mel is left confused. Ed also does not believe in Jess, making it even worse for her.It is clear that Jess was having some mental issues that were not addressed. Things suddenly turn even more tense in Little Disasters, when Jess tries to leave the hospital with Betsy. She did not believe that the doctors could help her. Unfortunately, her actions make her seem like an erratic parent, who cannot be left with her child alone.Even though Jess’s friends will try to step in to help her in Little Disasters, the CCTV footage from the day reveals that she was not truthful. The detectives get the footage of Jess from a medical store. As per Jess, she was with the children at the time, but in fact, she had left them alone at home to go to the pharmacy. The authorities charge Jess with child endangerment as they continue to investigate if she hurt Betsy. Jess temporarily moves in with Liz and Nick, who isn’t very happy about it. But Liz is determined to help her friend. Due to the charges, Jess is allowed to meet her children only for limited time.Meanwhile, Jess and Ed’s younger son, Frankie, has been displaying odd behavior. He appears aloof and guilty of the events. The truth behind Betsy’s injury comes to light in Little DisastersIn Little Disasters, Jess will finally get to spend a regular day with her family and friends, including Mel and her husband Rob. When Frankie sees Rob, he gets afraid and hides. Jess tries to talk to him and understand the reason behind his sudden fear. When Frankie sees Rob picking Betsy, he throws a fit. Frankie reveals that it was Rob who had hurt Betsy.Truth comes to light about the events of the day when Betsy was injured. Rob had paid Ed an impromptu visit on the day after Jess had gone to the pharmacy, when the kids were alone. Ed had been reluctant to invest in Rob’s business, which was about to go bankrupt and Rob was in great financial distress.At the house, Frankie wanted to change Betsy’s diaper and Rob kept her on the kitchen counter. Rob gets sidetracked, and Betsy falls off the edge and hurts her head badly. While Rob could have immediately taken accountability and helped the baby, he instead intimidated Frankie. He told the young boy that he was responsible for Betsy’s fall and in case he tells anyone, Jess will be arrested. Frankie got scared and believed his words. He kept the incident to himself.Now that the truth was out, Liz will inform the Social Services and the police is alerted. Rob is charged as Mel watches on. Mel was in a difficult marriage as we see all along, and recently she had also learnt that they will be moving because of they were selling their house due to the financial problems. In fact, Rob blamed her for his failures. When she learns that Rob was responsible for Betsy's injury, she had had enough.As Little Disasters come to a close, Ed realizes his mistake towards Jess. Jess was suffering from post-natal OCD and anxiety. Having another child, took a toll on her. Ed is remorseful for not believing Jess.
