Looks like Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 might be a secret reunion of the Defenders after all

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, despite being under filming, is in the news frequently, with the latest one being the return of Jessica Jones, played by Krysten Ritter. Her return was officially confirmed during the Disney presentation at the upfront event last Tuesday, May 13, 2025. Because her involvement was made official, fans believe that the other two Defenders, i.e., Luke Cage and Iron Fist, will also have roles in Born Again Season 2.

Now, Internet scooper Alex Perez has revealed that Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will feature Iron Fist/Danny Rand and Luke Cage, making it a reunion of the Defenders. It is important to note that Luke Cage and Danny Rand's return has not been officially confirmed — thus, we should wait till an official confirmation to consider the series the Defenders reunion.

However, Krysten Ritter's return as Jessica Jones was also just internet rumors until it was officially confirmed last week. Furthermore, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel's head of streaming, television, and animation, hinted that the studio was thinking of retaining the Defenders:

"I can't say much, but I'll tell you that it's so exciting to be able to play in that sandbox. Obviously we don't have the unlimited storytelling resources like a comic book. If you can draw it, you can do it. It's dealing with actors and time and the massive scale of production in order to build a cinematic universe, especially on television. But I can just say that all those variables taken into account, it is certainly something that is creatively extremely exciting and that we are very much exploring," he told Entertainment Weekly in February this year.

The events of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 were set up in the season 1 finale, as Mayor Wilson Fisk won the day. He successfully enacted a curfew in New York and banned masked vigilantes. He manages to round up the social elite and even Frank Castle in cages, but Matt Murdock and Karen Page manage to evade Fisk's anti-vigilante task force and form a small army.

Matt's "army" consists of him, Karen, Josie, Cherry, Detective Angie Kim, and two unnamed police officers. But fans were hoping for Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist/Danny Rand as a part of this army, making it The Defenders reunion. Now, Jessica Jones joining Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 might be a sign that this actually happens.

Now, Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus is stating that this might be the case. During a recent Discord or Patreon Q&A, Perez answered this while asked about the possibility of Luke Cage and Iron Fist returning to the MCU through Daredevil: Born Again Season 2:

"As I have stated for a while, long before they even confirmed Jessica Jones on her own, yes, I expect all 4 Defenders to pop up soon."

When asked about Jessica Jones' role in Season 2, Alex Perez responded:

"To my understanding, she’ll help Matt with his army by investigating things. Good ol’ Jessica Jones vibes."

These teasers have fans hopeful for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. But it is imperative to note that these are just rumors for now, and that we should keep our hopes in check until Luke Cage and Iron Fist's status is officially confirmed.
