Love, Death + Robots Season 4 premiered on Netflix on May 15, 2025, with 10 episodes. David Fincher and Tim Miller are the creators of the show. Till its fourth season, Love, Death + Robots saw an alignment in the critics’ and viewers’ ratings regarding its episodes and seasons.

However, that alignment has changed drastically in Love, Death + Robots Season 4. Previously, both critics and viewers loved the show, and that was evident in the Rotten Tomatoes score that each season of Love, Death + Robots received.

In season 4, the Netflix show has achieved an astounding 100% rating from the critics, but when it comes to viewers' ratings, it stands at a mere 34%.

Love, Death + Robots Season 4 has generated a completely different reaction from critics and viewers

One of the key reasons behind the huge discrepancy between the audience and critics’ ratings for Love, Death + Robots Season 4 is that the viewers have judged the season based on individual episodes, whereas the critics have considered the season as a whole.

Since the viewers were leaning into judging each episode, many claimed that only a few episodes of Love, Death + Robots Season 4 could hold their attention. This has not been a problem previously, and the ratings for the previous seasons prove the same.

Viewers even said that only 4 episodes of the total 10 were worth their time, and given how short every episode is, it says a lot about what the audiences feel towards these episodes. Since they could not focus or got bored with most of the episodes, the rating has naturally come down.

The critics, on the other hand, took a different approach while rating Love, Death + Robots Season 4. They considered the technical aspects of the season and also mentioned that it holds up when compared with the rest of the seasons. Moreover, according to the critics, this season fits in with the bigger picture that Love, Death + Robots has always wanted to paint as a sci-fi anthology series.

Given the fact that the audience and the critics were expecting completely different things out of Love, Death + Robots Season 4, their ratings have naturally come to display the same. For a show that has satisfied both the viewers and the critics for the past three seasons, this is surely an unusual outcome, but it does not necessarily speak about the quality of this season.

Despite the low audience rating, the high praises from the critics hint at Love, Death + Robots Season 4 being watchable, and it ultimately depends on the taste of each individual regarding how they perceive the episodes.

Love, Death + Robots can be streamed on Netflix.
