BritBox’s Lynley follows the life of the titular police detective as he solves some high-stakes cases. The show marks the second adaptation of writer Elizabeth George’s literary work after The Inspector Lynley Mysteries.

Leo Suter stars in the titular role of the inspector, who is considered an outsider in the department, thanks to his aristocratic background. However, when he teams up with DS Barbara Havers, the two become a force to be reckoned with.

The show premiered in the US on BritBox on September 4, 2025. However, not all episodes of the series were made available at the same time. Here is all you need to know about the release schedule of the show.

Lynley is going to feature only four episodes. Most British dramas have a low number of episodes in their seasons; however, each episode happens to be feature-length. This detective series follows a similar approach by featuring four 90-minute-long episodes.

The first episode, A Place of Hiding, premiered in the US on Thursday, September 4, 2025. The rest of the show follows a weekly schedule, with one new episode every Thursday. The second episode, This Body of Death, was released on September 11, 2025.

The third one, Careless in Red, is going to be aired on September 18, 2025. The fourth and final one, With No One as a Witness, will be made available on BritBox on September 25, 2025. All episodes are dropped on the platform at 12 AM PT / 3 AM ET. Here is the complete release schedule:

More about Lynley

Inspector Lynley and his team partner, DS Barbara Havers, will stumble upon a new and intriguing case in every episode. The two collaborate to investigate a mysterious death on Salcott Island in the first episode.

In This Body of Death, they solve the case of a young estate agent’s disappearance. In the third episode, Tommy finds a young man's dead body in the Norfolk Broads. In the finale, they hunt down a serial killer who has a connection with the church and encounter a wider conspiracy. The official synopsis of the show reads:

“Tommy Lynley, an aristocratic detective, and Barbara Havers, a working-class maverick sergeant, share little in common; except a passion for justice. His intellect and her instincts make them an unlikely but formidable team.”

The show stars Leo Suter in the lead role, along with Sofia Barclay as DS Barbara Havers. The rest of the cast includes Michael Workeye as Tony Bakare, Nadia Parkes as Sofia, Joshua Sher as Simon St. James, Niamh Walsh as Helen Clyde, Daniel Mays as DCI Brian Nies, Eloise Thomas as Cynthia, and Jack Archer as Frazer.
