The political K-drama follows the story of Baek Ki-tae, an ambitious KCIA agent whose greed for power has no limits, and is not afraid to get involved in criminal activities such as smuggling. The K-drama also introduces an honest public prosecutor, Jang Geon-young, who is ready to risk it all to expose corruption in his country.

This puts Ki-tae and Geon-young at odds as the former begins to look into his criminal activities, which might also bring more government officials into suspicion for their involvement in the criminal operations of Baek Ki-tae.

According to Hollywood Reporter, the synopsis of the political K-drama reads:

"Set in 1970s Korea, Made in Korea season one follows Baek Ki-tae, an ambitious KCIA agent who’s living a double life. Driven by his thirst for power, Ki-tae works as an agent by day and a smuggler by night. Smart, suave, cunning and capable, Ki-tae rapidly moves up the ranks after using his smuggling operation to consolidate power, protect his brother, and generate vast sums of money for the agency. Seemingly unstoppable, only one thing stands in his way -a tenacious prosecutor who can’t be bought, bribed or reasoned with. With everything at stake for both men the series will follow the duo as they look to take each other down."

In Made in Korea, Hyun Bin, who is known for his roles in Crash Landing on You and Secret Garden, will play the KCIA agent, Baek Ki-tae. Another big name from the industry, Jung Woo-sung, known for his works in Korean movies such as Innocent Witness, will portray the character of Geon-young in the K-drama.

Along with them, Woo Do-hwan, Seo Eun-soo, Jung Sung-il, Cho Yeo-jeong, and Won Ji-an will also appear in the upcoming K-drama, which is directed by Woo Min-ho and written by Park Eun-kyo.
