Matlock Season 2 Episode 1 opens with Matty questioning Alfie's alleged biological father and sensing danger, texts Edwin to take Alfie out of the house. Alfie's alleged biological father reveals that his name is Joey Danza. He takes Alfie's photograph and begins to admire it. Matty informs that Alfie's not present and makes it clear that he's not welcome back into Alfie's life. Joey then gives Matty Ellie's iPod.

During their conversation, Joey claims that he's clean, but Matty's interrogation skills are impeccable. Joey messes up the dates of the time she spent with Ellie. Well, that's a clear sign that he's still not capable of handling Alfie.

Matty insists on arranging a DNA test for Joey before introducing him to Alfie. Joey hands her the samples. Olympia visits Matty's home, and they share a warm hug. Their friendship is surely a treat to watch amidst the chaos and confusion.

Later, Matty and Edwin have a chat with Alfie, and Matty gives Ellie's iPod to Alfie. Edwin wants the Wellbrexa case to be over so that he can give the information to the New York Times.

In the end, when Matty receives the DNA results, they find out that Joey is Alfie's biological father, and this complicates things further. Matty also finds out that Joey lied, and he's not sober.

Matlock Season 2 Episode 2: Olympia tries to safeguard Julian

When Olympia visits Matty, she safeguards Julian and pins the blame on Senior (responsible for hiding Wellbrexa documents). However, Matty isn't the one to be so easily fooled. Olympia once again tries to manipulate the case and blatantly lies. She tells Matty that if Senior is given a chance, he would lawyer up and put the blame on Julian. Matty still doesn't look convinced, and here's when Olympia asks for two days to track down a mystery woman (Senior's mistress) who could provide them with deets on the Senior.

Olympia types a text but deletes it later. It shows that even though Olympia is safeguarding Julian, she deeply cares for Matty and is feeling guilty of misguiding her.

However, as the wise say, one lie leads to another; Olympia has no way out right now. She lied about finding the missing study in Julian's safe, and so now she has to hide the study to avoid getting caught. Back in the firm, Olympia tries hard to sow the seeds of suspicion on Senior on Matty's head. Matt suggests Olympia take the lead of the narrative she's framing and take the case to the New York Times to stay clean off the case, even if Julian gets involved. Amid the chaos, Matty spots a new safe key and fakes a fight with Edwin so Olympia is distracted. She checks on the Wellbrexa documents in the safe, and later, when she returns to the apartment for a science experiment for the case (to prove how Georgia brought accelerant to the party), she steals the safe key as a mini fire sets the alarm off in Olympia's apartment. She finally finds the documents that Olympia claimed Julian did not hide and decides to send those to the Times.

The episode ends with Matty sending a message to the New York Times regarding the Wellbrexa scandal. Is this the end for Olympia and Matty's friendship? Or will Olympia understand Matty's position? Watch Matlock Season 2 on CBS to find out what happens next.

Matlock Season 2 Episode 2 recap: Is Maya Richards innocent?

Let's roll back to the case of the week on Matlock Season 2, Maya Richards, the eighteen-year-old daughter of a hedge fund client, and her best friend, Georgia, were arrested six months ago after they broke into the school's auditorium, threw a party, and boom, after they left, a fire engulfed the theatre, and there was a huge financial loss. As per the initial investigation, the fire started due to a space heater, and they were held for trespassing and the presence of an accelerant, nitric acid takes the case a notch higher, leading to felony arson.

In the court, Georgia's lawyers bring in new evidence and pin the blame on Maya Richards. Georgia Brand testifies and gives the court Maya's motive and opportunity to set the school auditorium on fire. Maya's too shocked to react. Georgia tells the court that Maya burnt it down because she did not get to play the lead role in a play. In the firm, Maya confesses that Georgia had cocaine with her that night, and Olympia asks her to point down every bad thing Georgia is up to.

Matty tracks down an eyewitness who might help Maya’s case and meets Elliot, the stage manager. Elliot shares a few crucial updates that shed new light on the incident, but it’s still not enough to clear Maya completely. Eventually, it’s discovered that the fire was caused by nitric acid released from the ping-pong balls, which had been left too close to a space heater. And here’s the twist, those ping-pong balls were brought to the theatre by Georgie. In the end, Maya Richards is proven innocent, while Georgie faces misdemeanor trespassing charges.
