Here are all the shocking twists of the premiere episode of Matlock Season 2.
Matlock Season 2 premiere episode: The shocking truth about Alfie's biological father
The episode began with Matty interrogating Alfie's alleged father. He introduces himself as Joey Danza. Initially, Matty remains quite skeptical about believing him or his stories, but when he starts to talk about her daughter, Ellie, and his relationship with her, she grows curious. However, like any protective grandmother, she decides to keep Alfie out of it and texts Edwin to take Alfie out.
Joey then takes out Ellie's iPod and hands it to Matty. Matty finally asks him to sit down for a conversation. A nervous Joey mixes up dates, but turns out he knows a lot about Ellie. Joey tells him that he met Ellie back in 2008 when they were struggling with substance abuse. Even though they didn't connect initially for the first few months and he called her Karoke, they soon fell in love.
Joey further added that when Ellie was pregnant, she kept that a secret from him since she wasn't sure if he was ready for the responsibility. He also added that he had been sober since 2021. But Matty wasn't so sure of his claims, so she decided to opt for a DNA test before she let Joey meet her grandson, Alfie.
Joey accepted the offer and gave her the samples for the DNA tests. Later, Matty gave Ellie's iPod to Alfie, who apologized for digging too much into his past.
The ultimate shock came at the end of the episode when the DNA results were out. In the study, when Matty carefully took out the results, she was shocked. Turns out Joey is Alfie's biological father. But his claims of being sober since 2021 were fake. This put both Edwin and Matty in a tough position. Just when they thought that all their problems were solved, the shocking return of Alfie's biological father crashed their plans.
Also, Billy had been sleeping with his ex, Claudia, and when they found out she was pregnant, they freaked out. In the end, they decide to get back together and have the baby.
Matlock Season 2 premiere episode: Betrayals and lies might ruin the Olympia-Matty bond
Olympia and Matty's bond is one of the pivotal highlights of the legal drama. Their friendship is truly wholesome. But the twist at the end of the premiere episode hints that things are going to get tougher for them. Olympia's desperate attempt to pin it on Senior to safeguard Julian could backfire.
Olympia knew that Julian hid the Wellbrexa documents, but she chose to keep that a secret and divert the blame to Senior. From the beginning, Matty knew that there was something fishy with Olympia trying to push the narrative. She sneakily acquires the safe key and gets the Wellbrexa documents from Olympia's apartment. Matty and Edwin then decide to send it to the New York Times with valid evidence and email the editor.
This move might ruin the bond between Matty and Olympia forever. But it would be interesting to see whether Matty hands the evidence to the editor, and if yes, how Olympia would handle the crisis?
