MCU's Ironheart, starring Dominique Thorne, Anthony Ramos, and Alden Ehrenreich, debuted with the first three episodes on June 24, 2025, on Disney+. However, it seems that the series that was set to follow the incidents of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has sparked an early divide between critics and fans.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the first three episodes debuted with a 68% critics score and a 55% audience score—which is unusually low. It places Ironheart as the second-lowest-rated MCU Disney+ series. Executive produced by Ryan Coogler's Proximity Media, the series has a whopping budget of $100-$150 million for six episodes. With 868 votes, Ironheart has only received 5.3 out of 10 stars on IMDb. The show garnered a negative impression since its trailer release, and fans were left disappointed.

Disney+'s Ironheart debuts with a lukewarm response on Rotten Tomatoes

The MCU's Ironheart debuted on Disney+ with a bumpy start. The show debuted with a 68% critics' score and just a 55% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. While it's now climbing up, its starting trouble has raised eyebrows. So what happened?

The low rating was partly due to review bombing. Negative reviews started appearing even before the show aired. This has happened with MCU projects led by women or diverse characters, such as Ms. Marvel. Thus, the not-so-genuine ratings pulled the average down.

Additionally, some viewers also felt disconnected from the series. As the promotion for the series was confusing, the tone wasn't clear. Many fans didn't know what to expect from Ironheart. The first episodes had a different feel—mixing street-level tech with supernatural themes—hence not everyone connected with it.

However, the debut ratings usually change after a day or two, as more genuine reviews are added. Early ratings usually reflect a limited pool of critics and early viewers. As more people watch and submit feedback, the score adjusts—sometimes significantly.

Ironheart- The verdict so far

While Ironheart has debuted with a lukewarm yet respectable critics' score, its audience reception has yet to catch up. Currently, the Rotten Tomatoes score stands at 71% or more for both the audience and critics, indicating that early review bombing is starting to fade, allowing a genuine score to emerge. Despite the poor ratings, one thing remains clear: Riri Williams' debut series has been able to create a buzz and is among the most talked-about Marvel releases of the year.
