Extraction: Mercenary: Every character in the upcoming Extraction spin-off show revealed so far

With Mercenary, Netflix is expanding the universe of Chris Hemsworth's Extraction movies. The spinoff series will not include Hemsworth’s Black Ops mercenary Tyler Rake. Mercenary will introduce a new lead, Kalidou Diallo, who will be played by Omar Sy.

The logline of Mercenary reads as:

"Set in the high-octane world of Extraction, this action thriller follows a mercenary (Omar Sy) as he navigates a dangerous mission to rescue hostages in Libya. Trapped between warring factions and ruthless killers, the series delves into the emotional struggles of conflicted and flawed characters, each facing trauma, betrayal, and life-or-death choices."

Sy is the only actor revealed to be part of the Netflix series as of now. However, Netflix has recently revealed important characters that will drive the story.

Here’s a list of the characters that you will see in Mercenary.

Mercenary character list

1) Kalidou Diallo

Unlike Extraction, Mercenary will revolve around the story of Kalidou Diallo, who will be caught in the tension arising in Libya while he tries to save the hostages.

As mentioned, Omar Sy has been tapped to lead the spinoff series as Diallo. Aside from Mercenary, Sy has also appeared in popular TV shows such as Lupin and was also seen in movies such as X-Men: Days of Future Past and Jurassic World, among others.

2) Amina

As mentioned, other than Sy, no other actor has been revealed who will appear in Netflix’s Mercenary. However, Netflix has released the character introductions that we will see in the series.

One of them is Amina, fiancée of Diallo, and a great presence in his life. She is described by Netflix as:

"The rock and anchor of Kalidou Diallo’s life."

3) Kevin Porter

Other than Diallo, the character of Kevin Porter will be another significant character in Mercenary and also one of his greatest allies.

His character description by Netflix reads as:

"A former US Marine, the current head of security for an important oil field in Libya. He is a mentor and close friend of Kalidou Diallo."

In addition, it was also revealed that after the militants' attack on the oil fields of Libya, Porter, with Diallo, became a crucial member who would try to rescue the people who were caught in the crossfire of the situation.

4) Hamza Najjar

Hamza Najjar is another character who will be an important one in Mercenary. His character description reads:

"The charismatic leader of the militant group with a haunted past who is determined to fight threats domestic and abroad, including his corrupt government, and the corporations exploiting his country’s resources."

Although it is not yet revealed who will play this powerful character, the description alone brings depth to the character, with the revelation of a traumatic past, making the character humane. Najjar’s character will be one of the most complicated and intriguing characters of Mercenary, which would serve as a compelling plotline in the series.

5) Veer Banerjee and Priscilla ‘Cilla’ Ragab

As mentioned, the narrative of Mercenary will revolve around how militants led by Najjar will attack the oil fields and take hostages. Veer Banerjee and Priscilla ‘Cilla’ Ragab are revealed to be among the hostages taken by the militant group.

Veer is an important hostage due to being engaged to the son of the oil field owner.

Other than Veer, Priscilla, the other hostage, is described as a headstrong woman who doesn’t let weakness be seen on her face even after being taken hostage. Her character description reads:

"Priscilla doesn’t let the fact that she’s seven months pregnant get in the way of her work. She remains steadfast during the hostage crisis after the militant attack."

6) Roger Ward

This will serve as another crucial character in the narrative of Mercenary. His character is revealed to be the owner of the oil field with bad luck, as he gets involved in the militant attack after his surprise visit. His character description reads:

"An important executive of the company who owns the Libyan oil field, Roger finds himself at the center of the militant attack after leading a surprise visit."

7) Clayton Wisper

Other than Najjar, Clayton Wisper will also be taking the center stage in Mercenary with her compelling story. She is described as the cruel CEO of Wisper Group, who appears to be putting her business above the safety of humans.

However, there will also be a hidden side of Wisper’s personality that will reveal more about the villainous character, making it appear ambiguous. To know more about the characters of the Extraction spinoff, we have to wait for the series premiere.

In addition to the character revelation, it was also revealed that Mercenary will begin filming in December 2025, meaning in the upcoming months, we might find out who will be joining Omar Sy in the action thriller series.
