After Jeffrey Dahmer and Lyle and Erik Menéndez, Netflix is all set to tell the story of another notorious killer in Monster: The Ed Gein Story. The third installment of the anthology series is going to revolve around the titular series killer.

Ed Gein was charged with murdering two women in the 1950s. However, the case was not as simple, as the man also exhumed their bodies from their graves and made trophies out of them. He is counted among the most horrific serial killers in American history for his modus operandi.

Monster: The Ed Gein Story is set to premiere on Netflix on October 3, 2025. Here are all the updates you need about the upcoming chapter of the anthology true-crime series.

The release date of Monster: The Ed Gein Story

Netflix has confirmed that Monster: The Ed Gein Story will start streaming on October 3, 2025, just over a year after The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story, which came out on September 19, 2024. On the contrary, there was a gap of two years between the first two seasons, as The Jeffrey Dahmer Story debuted in September 2022.

The Ed Gein Story will feature eight episodes, marking the shortest season of the show so far, as the first and second chapters comprised ten and nine episodes, respectively. All episodes of the third season will be dropped on Netflix on October 3, 2025.

What to expect from Monster: The Ed Gein Story?

As the name suggests, The Ed Gein Story will showcase the chilling crimes of Eddie Gein, who targeted multiple women in rural Wisconsin in the 1950s. He has already inspired a number of Hollywood productions over the years, and the Netflix show is going to be a deep dive into his psyche and crimes. The official logline of the show reads:

“In the frozen fields of 1950s rural Wisconsin, a friendly, mild-mannered recluse named Eddie Gein lived quietly on a decaying farm — hiding a house of horrors so gruesome it would redefine the American nightmare. Driven by isolation, psychosis, and an all-consuming obsession with his mother, Gein’s perverse crimes birthed a new kind of monster that would haunt Hollywood for decades.”
“From Psycho to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre to The Silence of the Lambs, Gein’s macabre legacy gave birth to fictional monsters born in his image and ignited a cultural obsession with the criminally deviant. Ed Gein didn’t just influence a genre — he became the blueprint for modern horror.”
