"Most terrifying experience of my life": The Kardashians star Kim K opens up after the 2016 robbery verdict finds the ringleader guilty

The Kardashians' star, Kim Kardashian, recalled the robbery that took place on October 2, 2016, after the ringleader was found guilty.

Aomar Ait Khedache was the ringleader in the said robbery. He was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment and five years' suspension. Fans must remember how Kim Kardashian was held at gunpoint while the robbers robbed millions of dollars' jewellery from her hotel room.

After the verdict, The Kardashians star shared in her statement:

"The crime was the most terrifying experience of my life, leaving a lasting impact on me and my family. While I'll never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and accountability and pray for healing for all."

In 2016 robbery involving Kim Kardashian, eight people were found guilty after robbing her of millions of dollars' diamonds and jewellery. Four robbers were sentenced to up to eight years in prison. However, they won't be going back to prison because they have already served their time.

Stolen jewellery and items were worth $10 million, including a diamond ring. After the robbers were sentenced, Kim Kardashian reflected on the incident. She said that it was the "most terrifying" experience of her life.

The Kardashians star's lawyer stated that she:

"Looks forward to putting this tragic episode behind her, as she continues working to improve the criminal justice system on behalf of victims, the innocent, and the incarcerated seeking to redeem themselves."

Kim Kardashian was in her hotel room on the night between October 3 and 4, 2016, in Central Paris. A group of individuals entered her room, which, according to the DNA evidence, were: Aomar Ait Khedache, 69, and Yunice Abbas, 71. They also have admitted to their involvement in the robbery.

While Aomar Ait Khedache was sentenced to eight years in prison on Friday, May 23, 2025, five of those years were suspended. He is now mute, deaf, and disabled. Similar to the rest of the convicted individuals, he won't be returning to prison, as they have already served their time.

Additional robbers, Abbas, suffering from Parkinson's disease, and the third one, Didier Dubreucq, were also sentenced to five years in jail. The fourth robber was Marc-Alexandre Boyer, 35, also convicted with the same sentence.

As most of the robbers involved in the incident are between their 60s and 70s, the French media have been referring to them as "Grandpa robbers."
