If we recall the opening sequence of the first episode of Prime Video's Motorheads, the show takes us back in time to the point when Zac and Caitlyn's parents were young adults. The very first shot unravels on the fiery tracks of Ironwood with an unpopular kid racing against the 'UNB10' champion - Christian Maddox.
That kid is no one but the father of the town's richest and most popular kid (and racer), Harris Bowers. 17 years later, when Christian's kids come to the small 'Motorhead' town where their parents and Uncle Logan grew up, a lot of mysteries start to be unearthed.
Back in the day, Christian and Samantha (now parents of Caitlyn and Zac) used to date. However, Darren always had a thing for Sam, and that's what complicated things for the trio. However, it is not until Episode 4 of Motorheads that it is revealed what bet Darren lost to Christian over Samantha. Let's find out more.
Motorheads Episode 4 comes with a big revelation and it clears up the show's opening flashback sequence
Motorheads Episode 4 comes with a reunion between old friends, and that leads to the big revelation connecting the dots back to the opening sequence. Zac and Caitlyn's mother, Samantha, goes around the town where she spent most of her childhood days.
While on her tour, she comes across the Bowers Skate House (currently owned by Darren Bowers), which seems to hold a lot of history, as Samantha tells Darren after bumping into him:
"A lot of good memories in this place."
While the two of them have a conversation on a bench by the skating rink, it is eventually revealed that they had their so-called 'first date' in that place. As Sam and Darren reconnect over old memories, they go around the town talking and soon end up at a pub where they are seen playing pool.
As stories of the past further unfold, it is learned that Christian Maddox was the 'King of the Hill' back in the day and was with Samantha. However, Darren was really into Samantha and wanted to fight his way to her. To quote his words:
"I didn't think he was good enough for you. I know it wouldn't end well."
That's why he challenged Christian Maddox (who was unbeaten on the track back then) to a race where the bet was that if Darren beat him, he would have to let Samantha go. However, as we saw in Motorheads Episode 1, Darren and Christian had a close fight on the track. Darren even told Sam:
"I almost had him."
But the champion of the town was 'UNB10' as usual on his fire-wheeled yellow Challenger. As the legend goes, everyone who ever raced against Christian at some point thought they had a chance until they got beaten.
